So are we doomed in Baton Rouge next week?

Currently not looking great, but a ways off. Def something to keep your eye on and prepare.

Models continue to try to do something but it still looks like a sloppy system that could be a prolific rain maker.

At least it’s not going to be a hurricane.

True, but unfortunately the Euro has been very consistent with keeping this weak system stalled over south la. From fri/sat to the end of the following week. IF this happens, that’s not good.

Gonna have to wait and see if that piece of energy breaks off and comes out of Central America. If it does, the euro will probably play out

And unless the GFS plays out, as soon as this thing forms up it will pretty much be a day or 2 from where it will end up. Not a whole lot of time to prep.

I'm no weather expert, but you will have a clearer idea by Thursday. Weather here is predictably unpredictable though. I will tell you this though, you will get better info here than by watching any weather channel.

I don't know what you are coming for, or where you are coming, but I don't think they are saying it will be a hurricane. It will just be a lot of rain, which could be just as bad depending on where you are.

I'm not going to pretend to know, and have you cancel a trip. Hopefully the weather experts on here can better help you.

Won’t be much to prep IF it comes here. Clean your catch basins near your house today or tomorrow and pick up anything that can be knocked over with some wind gusts. It will be a rain event for wherever it goes but shouldn’t lose power

No, nothing much towards prepping for a hurricane/wind. More like a big rain event, maybe some sandbags, etc. for the real vulnerable flooding areas. For majority of people though it will just be a real gloomy Memorial Day weekend.

Current 7-day rainfall forecast. Nothing extreme so far but keep an eye on this as the week progresses. If it starts showing some brown/yellow then it could cause some problems.

Most recent Euro. 95% of these rainfall totals occur from Thursday to Tuesday.

That could be a troubling scenario for parts of LA if it would play out. 12-15 inches over 6 days would not be terrible, but if most of it fell in a few hours, that is obviously a much different story.

As with all tropical systems, the potential is there. Definitely something to monitor over the next couple of days to see if it continues to show the 12+ inch totals.
