Yeah. Back when everybody was looking for this

Cards today are seen as investment pieces so the packs etc are more expensive than ever. Some of the top tier card packs are thousands of dollars so the ones you find for $5 aren’t really collectible anymore outside of your personal.

If you want to rip packs just remember that are you are gambling. It is best to buy single cards raw or grades

was one next to Come Back Inn on West Metairie? or was that Family Baseball Cards and Comics? or did they change the name at one point. I kept that place in business i think

I did as a kid, but when grading cards became a thing I lost interest. The hobby is a hell of a lot more expensive now than it was in the 80’s and 90’s. They’ve priced kids out of the hobby.

I occasionally grab a Tulane or LSU player.
I have my baseball cards from '67 to '70, the single most valuable being this dude's Topps Rookie card:

I was a regular at the Gretna store as a kid in the 90's. My grandma went to the chiropractor office that was next door, so I'd always ask to go with her so I could walk over to the card shop to spent all my allowance money
Still have all those cards, even though I don't think stuff from that era is really worth much.

Just got back into it recently. Been more into football lately, but I did have some 1990 baseball cards left unopened from when I was a kid. I use it as a bonding time with my son explaining to him the players and all that. Little shite pulled a Sammy Sosa rookie card from the old baseball packs.
Scored a Stetson Bennet auto the other day and few pretty good CJ Stroud rookies.
Also realized I have a Terrell Davis auto from the mid to late 90s in my old cards.

Live Breaks are pretty fun. You pay for the team you want and they open a whole case of cards on YouTube and ship you the cards for whatever team you chose. I got some pretty nice cards from doing this. I also got zero. It’s pretty much sports card gambling.

I have mostly Topps cards from the 60's and a complete Topps set from 1976. Some Mantle's Mays and Aaron's from the mid 60's.

i never cared for Topps too much. I was a Donruss and Upper Deck fan myself.

did when I was a kid. I've looked on ebay and amazon for old wax pack boxes but they usually only have 88 - 92 Donruss, Fleer, & Topps. That was when the market became over saturated. Not many good ones to be had beyond Ken Griffey Jr's Upperdeck card. It's hard to find anything 87 and prior.
The rack packs were cool. Equivalent to 3 regular packs, and a clear wrapper so you could see 6 of the cards.

Last time I had bought a baseball card was as a kid around 1990…
Then a friend referred me to a vintage baseball card group in Covid year 2020. There was a massive resurgence in the hobby that year.
So basically I went 30 years between buying cards. I did a lot of damage in 2020 and I still buy some now on occasion.
I’ve since acquired all the Mickey Mantle’s from 1954 onward and I have 1948 Leaf Babe Ruth as my prize possessions. Little me would have never believed my current collection. I’m doing it for him

I wouldn't mind getting in on one of those. They used to have them on TD but I'd be competing with too many other Saints and Pels fans.

I did as a kid, but I wouldn’t bother picking it back up now. It became too popular of a thing to do in the 90’s and the value of the cards went down.

It was a big part of my childhood in the late 80s/early 90s. At a card show in Houston me and my grandpa bought the 86 Fleer Jordan rookie. This was around '92 or '93 when had only won one or two titles. It's in great condition and I need to get it graded. Got back into it a few years ago, just mostly buying Burrows, Chase, Jefferson, former Tigers. Put together a book cards from all the players on the '19 championship team that have had pro cards made. Now starting to buy Skenes and Crews cards. But the hobby has changed drastically over the past 30 years and in many ways for the worse. Still am enjoying getting back into it though.
