I'm not sure there are very many places on earth that require a tie.

I’d imagine there have to be a few, but it’s definitely not the norm.

Fine dining is ok once/year or two. We rarely go because it's so overpriced and we're just not super formal people. We like value and comfort. But we'll go once per year max just to do something different.

I don’t even wear a tie to weddings or funeral

I’m sure not wearing one to go eat dinner

Unless required at a wedding or rehearsal supper

If not required, I’m not wearing it

These days, if you want quality food and service, you have to go fine dining. Otherwise, you get food warmed up in a plastic bag in a microwave, served by teenagers and former teen moms who don't give a rat's arse about you.

I saw a comment the other day. "it's all in who you want to heat up your Sysco"

I took my lady to Flemings for V day when I was 20. Spent all my busboy money from the week but they didn't card me for drinks and I got laid. That dining experience was just fine.
This is the best definition of fine dining so far.

The food? Hell yes. Actually going to the restaurant and having to sit there for two hours? ehh...

Give me a good steakhouse with awesome sides, good service, good atmosphere, and a good bourbon selection over some nothing but fried food place any day.

One of the easiest things to replicate at the house. Steak is easy to make and you can get a good bottle of bourbon. About 1/5 the price.

That's the best part.

You must not be a drinker.

Our last jazz brunch at Commanders was nearly ruined when I glanced over and noticed they had allowed in some riff raff wearing sneakers.

Is a good steakhouse "fine dining"?

It depends on the company. If it’s just a one on one date or a double date then yeah I agree.

But if it’s a group of 6 or more then I can sit and drink wine all night
