Is it true that there is no border patrol on Route 98?

Not true.

In fact the surliest border agents I've ever met worked the Klondike Hwy. I made a slight joke to an American agent coming back from Whitehorse and the fricker held me up for an hour.

I see it now. I was looking on Google maps right at the US-Canada border but they actually have two about 8-10 miles away from the border.

Right.

Its an incredible road though, only 110 miles between Whitehorse and Skagway. Very worth the drive.

One of my great uncles was in the Coast Guard and had an opportunity to be in Juneau or Pascagoula. He chose Mississippi

I did on Unmac island for 5 months. Absolutely nothing there but cows. Fox and eagles. It was the 9th largest island in America.

Was an old Army base back in WW2 when the Japanese attack Alaska.

Got a friend in Homer. He describes it as the last Wild West. He's the best trackhoe operator I've ever seen, and travels down to the PNW for work, but he has to be home by November every year to kill and butcher a moose before winter hits.

Of course. I would venture to guess that millions of people have lived in Alaska.

I was a little wild at that point in my life. The isolation caused me to look at things in different perspective.

seems like that would be a logistical problem to out in the desolate boonies and kill an elk?
