college, I was feeling like shite for a few days, no appetite, cold sweats etc. didn't know what was up but I just thought it was a stomach bug.

i was helping a friend move a couch, next thing I know I woke up in a pool of shitty blood, which had came out my a-hole. Had a bleeding ulcer in my stomach and lost like half my blood. When I got to the hospital in the ER, doctor came in, checked me out, and left. Nurse told me it was ok to get up and clean myself off a bit. Well I got up, next thing I know I wake up in another pool of shitty blood. Had to have it cauterized and spend a few days in the hospital. Thought I was gonna literally die

Same thing with me, only I threw up the blood. Spent a few days in ICU and had 9 ulcers in my stomach. Mine were caused from BC Poweder.

This thread scares me. I've been trying not to take as much ibuprofen but I pretty much have to take a prescription dose to ride and I have to pop some at work when walking a lot of apartments.

Stupid ankle.

Ulcer pain usually gets better after a meal and is worse right before the meal. It feels like a burning sensation. Sharp pain is weird. Again, go see a GI doc. If you really think you have ulcers, keep taking your acid blocker and avoid beer and NSAIDs (tylenol is ok). Also, research has shown that zinc is helpful in healing stomach ulcers. A supplement isn't a bad idea. Probiotics are great but I'm not sure they do anything for stomach ulcers. If this has been going on for a while, and if you have bleeding or if you are feeling full earlier than you are used to, then I would want to get scoped asap. How old are you? Do you drink a lot? Smoke?

Tell me about it

I was lifting a couch into the bed of the truck. Woke up leaning against the wheel and the couch had fell on me, to add insult to injury

I was surprised when my pain in the same location turned out to be gallstones, so just thought I would throw that out there. Have they ordered any other tests? Ultrasounds are best for gallbladder.

You win this thread. I know a few people that dealt with stomach ulcers. Idk how it affects their diet. I can say one thing. I just hit my mid twenties and I can barely eat anything without having done kind of heart burn. I hate it. I don't think I can swear off red sauce though. The Sicilian in me just won't allow it.

Yep. Try gaviscon in the liquid form. It'll coat the stomach until it heals... Good luck

Most stomach ulcers are actually due to bacteria, believe it or not. You can manage the symptoms all you want, but if you don't treat it with antibiotics, you're pissing in the wind.

This and fought them for years till I got the right treatments. Everything great now.

If you're having recurrent ulcer problems you need to go see a GI doc. I had an ulcer perforate. 50% people who have a perforation die. Don't wait on it. Sometimes it's as simple as taking an antibiotic. Even the scope procedure isn't bad. Try GI associates if you are in Baton Rouge.

U need to get a scope done. My dad had a bleeding ulcer that almost killed him. They had to break out the paddles in the ER. They did a scope and cauterized it and found he also had a rare form of stomach cancer. He's been getting radiation treatments at MD Anderson and the outlook is good but nothing to mess around with.
