I remember the Styx song from when i was a little kid.. back then, i thought that ‘domo arigato’ was some phrase that the band made up, even though it was purported to have a Japanese meaning .. never thought much about it, and it was over 40 years ago.. So imagine my surprise when, for the first time in my life a few years ago, i was traveling thru Japan, stopped into the United club lounge (#humblebrag- ok not really) , went to say thank you to the woman who admitted me into the lounge- and when i asked her how i should say Thank You in Japanese, she literally said : “Domo Arigato”…. I kinda thought at first i was being pranked, but no, that actually is how you say thank you very much in Japan … Huh .

Am I a robot? No, but I was called the devil one time negotiating a settlement. The guy was serious and visibly scared. Kinda like voodoo scared. He was black so maybe he was told all his life that the white man was the devil? And just for the record, I was completely civil and just following the law. That’s all I got.
