No but they want me covering memphis. I told them I don’t go there. They asked what I meant. They’ll find out in two weeks.

I had to put together the layoff list at the end of 2019 for our US operations. Worked through HR to notify everyone on the list. Fast forward to April 2020 and I was laid off due to COVID.

This is why giving an employer 2 weeks notice isn’t necessary.

Congrats. Try doing it for 7 years and 9 managers in a Fortune 50 company and realizing it's all bs

That’s just business in the modern world. Personnel costs are usually one of the biggest costs for a company and the easiest to minimize. Stock holders don’t care how long those people have been with a company.

Companies should focus on reducing the dei fat within hr instead of productive employees

You don’t want a king cake from Little Rock, friend.

I have made a few this year and they’ve been really good. Mom is shipping me one from Antoine’s in metairie tomorrow.

100%. Plus never worry about your product line being sold off despite how well you are doing or anything like that.

Glad how it ended, but it’s a reminder of how expendable employers view their employees.
Did this sound better in your head?

The employers aren’t expendable, you meant the employees were expendable to employers.

And I’ll agree with a caveat: SOME employers value employees more than others.

I’ve seen businesses go under because they wouldn’t scale back on their workforce.

I know the OT is supposed to be politics free.

But those that claim this economy is in a growth mode are 100% full of shite.

Companies in general are contracting, reducing costs, streamlining, and tightening their belts.

We are in a recession and that is the reality.

Why do companies do this type of shite these days rather than passing down the lists to middle management and having the management inform the employees face to face? It’s chickenshit

No doubt. It's good that people have really started to realize this. I can't believe it's taken so long.

blame millenials for the lack of company loyalty these days.
