This is why I like living outside of coushatta. Can get my driver's license renewal in 5 minutes.

As someone who grew up in Bienville Parish, it's hard to imagine liking that area. I swear those are some of the poorest parishes in Louisiana unless you got some of the shale money.

I use that Autozone all the time with no issues. Same with the post office on Louisiana avenue.

Your whole posts just reads like you are scared of being around black people

Except the good school districts are crazy to buy into. Also you forgot to mention the guilt trip from grandparents for you moving away.

There’s one public high school in our town and it’s been endowed for 100 years. It looks nicer than most colleges in Louisiana. We also moved closer to my parents than we were before (we basically swapped grandparents).

Moved to Iowa 2 years ago. I can confirm that every time I have ordered ice cream or a milk shake from McDonald’s up here, I got it. That machine has NEVER been down in 2 years…….

I actually agree -- that post office and AutoZone are fine, and I've never had problems at either. While they are not great, and there are probably nicer / cleaner / better ones in other cities in other states, they are more than adequate and located in a city that is way more interesting and fun than wherever this guy moved to, almost guaranteed.

Living in Nola is a tradeoff, no doubt. But finding a slightly better AutoZone does not tilt the scale too much, in my estimation.

Right. And if you live in uptown you live near numerous viable grocery stores.

Now trash pickup, S&WB, littering, and emergency response would have all been quality of life issues to rant about

Damn, that's some grade-a writing there!

How in the world does Fayetteville AR have the same crime rating as Baton Rouge? that’s got to be some seriously creative comparative data to achieve that.

Never having to wait in lines, getting pleasant and timely help in grocery stores are a huge plus.

Trash free streets is something that blows you away, at first. Its definitely a quality of life issue.

I had the same realization when we moved 8 years ago from the Millerville area. As much as I say I love and miss the people back home, I know in the back of my mind they are at the root of the problem.

This isn't anything new. Hell, Andrew Jackson had to issue marshal law in order to get local support to build bulwarks to defend against the British invasion. French American culture is great but lazy.

Totally agree. Cost of living is a little higher, but well worth it for the quality of life.
