Santa Maria subdivision power restored 11:40 pm - at least my section, hopefully the entire subdivision.

Not the back of the neighborhood (The Highlands) despite the Entergy maps showing green

quote:You have trouble reading. I didn’t say they don’t have a plan. I said they don’t have a way to relay that plan to individual people without adding personnel and vetting the message. The people with the plan are engineers and EMS operators and supervisors. These people don’t exactly have a mechanism to relay their specific plans to every single customer a la cart.
To say that Entergy doesn't have the information area by area to relay is to say they don't have a plan to efficiently address the outage.
quote:Again, any communication is going to be scrutinized. Entergy and other companies are constantly doing customer surveys. Hell, most employee’s bonuses are attached to the overall customer rating hitting a certain number. Inaccurate information, even if it’s an estimate, pisses people off more than you know. There’s a risk involved with telling people they “should” get power back by X date and not being able to hit that date due to a million different things that can delay the timeline.
The communication is horrendous because it can be. There is nothing that is pushing them to do better. As such, they think saying "we're working hard" is enough.
quote:You’ve got people guessing based on the work the see. The two people in this thread who were relaying actual information about what substations are hot are people who obviously have access to the EMS data probably using a historian like PI. And if you haven’t been paying attention, for every time they’ve said that something should be happening, there are those who get their hopes up only to be let down. But because it’s a stranger trying to be helpful, they’re not so defensive. If it were official word from Entergy, they’d be angrier than before because the perception is the company either “lied” or they don’t know what they’re doing.
you've got people throughout the city figuring out what's going on themselves and together putting pieces of the puzzle together because IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO THEM.
I find it extremely ironic that you tell me I cant see the forest for the trees when it’s who you are being oblivious to some pretty logical points.

quote:Theyre fixing transmission and distribution lines mostly and substations. They’ve been putting out those numbers daily in terms of totals fixed and still to be fixed as well as the mileage. They’ve also said that priority 1 is hospitals and vital services like 911 and water and nursing homes and some essential commercial businesses. Tier two are your grocery stores, gas stations, and other large businesses. Eventually comes the neighborhoods first focusing on the largest bulks you can. And all this is happening at the same time as assessments are taking place. Initial assessment is over and tons of power has been restored. But some places aren’t accessible while other issues may only involve a customer or two. They’ve said that if you have a line down that goes directly to your house, it will likely take longest.
FFS, how about they describe what they are fixing, why that is a priority, and what the expected impact is when it is fixed.
You’re trying to act like the information you want is reasonable. The reasonable information has been available this whole time. What Entergy and other companies can’t do is tell each customer (even on a neighborhood by neighborhood basis) when they’ll get their power back. There’s so much work happening over so many groups with so many factors involved that specifics like that just aren’t realistic. Do me a favor. Be realistic.

I swear Entergy didn’t even know we were still out on W. Lakeview last year.
The customer service reps at the call center told me that the number of calls makes a difference but I wonder if it does. We called once or twice a day last year until that pole was back up and we’ve done the same this time too.
I’m hopeful that herd of trucks that were seen yesterday were getting a game plan to tackle this for us today. If any of you pass by and see them messing with that pole post it here. I’ll do the same.

Antique Village in Denham is up. At least they’ve crossed Fla Blvd now. Still out north of N College.

Still out in JT. Glad some are getting it back on. Hopefully that will help the gas situation. Here’s hoping we get it today.

Wonder what it would have been had that Coca~Cola driver not moved the barricades and knocked down the lines they spent 16 hours working on yesterday

This is retarded.
They could hire 100 people whose job is only to manage communication during emergencies like this and it wouldn't materially affect energy bills.
Jesus raptor riding Christ.
This is a bad idea that would cost money and end up making you more upset.

I have to be honest. As someone in an area of the state that is pretty much 100 percent without power and which was largely without any communication for over 3 days, the level of whine in some of the posts in this thread are cringey.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
Viktor E. Frankl,
Dr Frankl kind of survived the Holocaust. I think we will be okay without some power for a little bit longer. Lot of men acting like pussies up in here.

This thread was supposed to be about obtaining info and asking questions on power outages. Turned into a bunch of entergy employees knighting for the company. Let people ask their questions and complain. For some it’s all they got.
Shout out to blutarski for handing out solid info
