Political finger pointing
Not a Hidalgo fan. But I have a hard time believing she would turn down help.
quote:
Patrick said they reached out to Hidalgo on Saturday, July 6, two days before Beryl hit. He said they asked if Hidalgo and Harris County needed anything and she responded and told them no.
Patrick said they reached out again on Sunday and she didn't respond. Patrick said they reached out again on Monday and Tuesday and on both days, Hidalgo told them, "we're good."
On Thursday night, Hidalgo's spokesperson Angelica Luna Kaufman sent KHOU 11 a response, saying, “Judge Hidalgo has been very clear that she has not spoken to the Lt. Governor. She and other leaders, across all levels of government have been focused on meeting the needs of our communities impacted by Hurricane Beryl and it is absurd that the County would decline any aid that would help our area recover more quickly. His ridiculous claim that she turned away help from the state is meant to feed a false narrative to get people riled up when we are already dealing with so much.
Judge Hidalgo will not be getting into a back and forth with the Lt. Governor and will remain focused on leading our County through this critical post disaster period.”

Never underestimate the way people use others for themselves
Especially when someone is "given" their power.

CP said via their spokesperson that there was no directive from Dora’s office to have those lineman on standby IN Houston prior to the storm.

I am more bothered that it shows absolutely no update at all for my area on CP's site. I live at the backside of the Woodlands, closer to Magnolia for reference.

I just looked at yalls weather today. 90% chance of thunderstorms. That sucks!

I'll take some of that off their hands. No rain to speak of here since the 9th of June, and nothing on the way through at least Monday.

Should be pretty easy to prove and the bad blood between her and Austin, along with the new Mayor should quickly lead to Patrick providing proof to the media, if he has it.

But shouldn’t CP knkw that something’s coming and to get things lined up?
My aunt works for slemco in Louisiana .. she’s in charge of logistics and bringing in/arranging for help. I doubt that she waits for the mayor (or whoever this person is) to say “hey .. get going”.

They could give it but it means absolutely nothing. These are independent service companies and they aren’t putting their assets in the direct path of a storm. It would be ridiculous to expect that. Equipment for 1 crew is several million dollars and there are years backlogs to get replacements.

LT Gov Dan Patrick has already proven that he is full of shite the past. What he says and does are to benefit himself and nobody else. It’s not helping now. He’s just an arsehole.

Now Centerpoint is trying to pass responsibility off to someone else. Not surprised.

I saw a blue light flash around 9pm last night near 1488 and Magnolia HS I’m hoping that means they are close to powering the lines here. Just finding new issues as they energize.

If I had to guess, lots of people dropped the ball here and everyone is pointing the finger at the classroom idiot who is too incompetent to effectively defend herself.
In short, Lina is part of the frick up because she less qualified for her job than even Kamala Harris, but she’ll shoulder extra blame because everyone in the public will go “Yep, not surprising that idiot screwed something else up”

Yeah. I'll believe Patrick before CP. They are just CYA'ing.
Now Biden is throwing rocks
All I know is that I passed a truck stop on old 90 and there were 9 trucks just sitting there. This was at 9am this morning. I would expect them to be working at that time of day.
Now Biden is throwing rocks
quote:
President Joe Biden said Tuesday that the federal government could not distribute emergency relief supplies, including power generators, after Hurricane Beryl hit Texas until the White House was able to “track down” state leaders and get their formal request for a major disaster declaration.
I’ve been trying to track down the governor to see — I don’t have any authority to do that without a specific request from the governor,” Biden said.
quote:
Patrick posted Thursday on social media, suggesting Biden has not been honest.
“White House documents show that he terminated the emergency declaration on the same day it was issued, leaving Texas unable to claim reimbursement for expenses incurred after the declaration was terminated,” Patrick said. “In addition, he reduced our emergency request for 121 counties to 67, going back on his word and what he agreed to on our initial phone call.”
The White House had no immediate comment on the statement.

Patrick should just shut up. This Center Point issue isn't isolated to Harris County.

I originally gave the gov a walk since I knew he was out of country on a tax funded boondoggle … so to not see him immediately on the news was ok.. I figured he was behind the scenes… but I am not sure he had even been back to the state yet? … that does not really sit well imo..

From what I've been reading, this has been the norm. The crews wait hours for an assignment, and once completed, wait another few hours for the next one. Sounds really inefficient and like the CP idiots have no clue how to manage the resources from a logistics standpoint.
