This is the only toy to last our chocolate lab. She can tear through anything. She did tear the handle up a little but the ball itself is still in great shape and enough of the handle is left to still have use. She likes to sit with this and just squeeze it in her mouth as hard as she can. You can tell how much she loves biting down hard on something. It doubles as a toy to play fetch with so that works nicely.

Actually I didn't get it from any shelter.

He was wandering around the local country road. No tags or anything.

Without knowing me, why would you say something of the sort?

If using Kong or toy from West Paw Design, freeze peanut butter inside toy. Makes the dog have to work for treat and will keep him entertained for quite a while.

Go to your butcher and ask for pork knuckles. I don't know exactly what part it comes from but I usually get them for free. I take them and add them to a stock and give them to my dogs after that. Takes them several days to a week to get through and its not problem just giving them another when they're done. I try to pick them up when they get too worn though, just afraid they might splinter.

because i live near Austin and people say, "he's a rescue" and by that they mean that they got them from a shelter and act like they adopted a russian orphan.

my sincere apologies.

Lacrosse balls cheap, bounce and are very durable.

Fire hose dog toy lasted a while too.

Kong has a toy that dispenses a treat if it's tilted the right way. If nothing else it keeps them busy. Haven't had any Kong toys chewed up yet.

My dog, 20lb large rat terrier, has DESTROYED every toy we've given her except the red large size solid Kong ball. Rope toys-a joke, nylabones are a bloody sharp mess within a day, tennis balls don't last 3 hours, any toy (including black Kongs, with a handle, edge, or hole in it will be destroyed. The solid red Kong ball, large size, has been the only thing to hold up.

Racket balls are awesome. My collie/lab mix would destroy everything... Has a couple racket balls she has been working on for years.

Gough Nuts are indestructible, plus if they are punctured you will see the red warning color. Just send it back and they will replace it.
