The best all around firearm would be a AR chambered in pistol rounds that takes Glock magazines. That way you can buy yourself high capacity magazines. .223/5.56 in a close range instance is highly overrated. This is important because reloading in a nerve racking situation can determine your fate very quickly, you will want to cut out as much of that as you can. Now the next part is you want to fill those magazines with Hollow points. I don't think a shotgun is as effective in this scenario is because how ammunition is cumbersome and something you will have to reload very often.

It’s definitely a 12 or 20 gauge tactical shot gun. You don’t want a pistol grip without a stock because of recoil. You don’t need an AR 15 because if that many people are coming to you are dead anyway. Also, all of these pencil dick OTers with an AR 15 couldn’t hold it straight enough to aim if shite really hit the fan . if you want to stop one or two “protestors” just get the shotty

Shotgun, you got to be too close range and not enough round capacity.

It depends what you want. With modern buckshot and some practice you have a very potent home/property defense weapon with a good shotgun. I prefer a shotgun to an AR because it gives me the option to use regular fine shot for pest control. A rifle is too dangerous for that in any urban or suburban environment.

IMO a rifle really shines for rural use and combat. A shotgun is a great general use tool and inside the home defense weapon

It wouldn't be my first choice, no. But I got it because it's an easy to operate option for my wife if ever needed.

At a card game a while back a guy was asking about a gun to carry in his truck. One of other guys literally said, "if you don't have time to practice just get a Judge because you don't have to be as good of a shot." I think I threw up in my mouth when I heard him say that.

As long as you know the limitations of the gun do what every you want with it. The reason traded my Governor was because at first it was cool. I broke a fling skeet with it one time, but after that it never really went to the range. Then an opportunity to trade up presented itself so I took advantage of it.

How long do you think you'd remain that way in jail? They ain't putting you in protective custody.

I have. It's still a very small subset of people doing this in primarily inner-city locations.

My personal preference is also an AR-15 with a handgun.

I think a pump shotgun works fine, but to me it has a few possible issues I don't want to deal with. One is that in the heat of the moment you could short stroke your shotgun and jam it. Two is the limited capacity. The third is that recoil that comes with using anything other than birdshot.

Agree with you. And admittedly, I need to get her out to practice with it. But I damn sure trust her with that before the Walther.

Yeah, I actually bought mine as one of two guns that replaced a Colt Detective Special (my dad's that he left me ) that was stolen in a burglary at our previous home. It has it's limitations, for sure. It's not a great all around choice for self-defense, but it can work. It does have pest management potential, too.

This is without a doubt the sweet spot for a Governor/Judge. They are a snakes worst nightmare.

I'm not going to argue that people wouldn't be shaking in their boots, but with modern buckshot you don't really get that big of a spread at close range. You're talking around 3 inches at 15 yards. You still have to aim.

I have a simple 12 gauge with some heavy birdshot in there. Lot of kids in various rooms of my house that I don’t want to over penetrate through multiple walls. I’ve used shotguns since I was a kid and feel comfortable with it if I ever had to use it in a bad situation. Have some 00 buckshot loaded as backup.

Also it’s a plain looking shotgun with a brown stock. If I ever tagged anyone with it I’m a dude with a shotgun if I got called in front of a jury. Nobody is looking at it saying wow this guy was really looking to kill someone. I’ve been told by friends who are WAY more into guns than myself that you don’t want to have some crazy customized, tactical looking thing as your primary personal defense weapon as you never know How a jury is going to view it.

I went with the X95 over an AR. A bullpup isn't as long and better for home defense IMO.
