I love that watch.
Too expensive to ever buy one, though.

I guess it depends on who you ask

I've gotten spoiled to tritium.
I believe this one has a setting to adjust brightness of the auto light function. A wrist rotation lights it. Never messed with it.
I just like that it is perfectly accurate linked to the atomic clock, solar, and bomb proof.

We did a survey one time and the & of people that bought a watch for conspicuous consumption was less than 10%. That's an astonishing number. You'll never understand and that's ok too.
There's lies, damn lies & statistics. Like anyone in any significant numbers would admit the real reason why they' buy one.
The ONLY reason somewhat would pay thousands for watch is to be pretentious "look what I can afford" aHole.

what site would I visit to buy one of these superclones?
Also that picture shows them as being identical. In other words it doesn't say "Folex" or "Submrainer" or some other obvious tell...so is the only real difference just that it was assembled by a kid in a sweatshop and not meticulously handcrafted as a real Rolex would be?

Vaer C4 and marathon quartz nav are topping my want list lately for some reason that I don't really understand. I don't even like quartz watches. Like I said eariler, if its gonna be electric it might as well be digital far as I"m concerned.

Good ones can be VERY close to real ones.
I believe with some, one of the only ways to tell it’s fake is the m in 300m is slightly floating. Nobody would ever see that in the wild. You’d probably barely be able to notice it while staring at your watch face.
So galaxies away from what you’re thinking with Folex

That’s like the survey that Rolling Stone magazine sent out and large majority of the the Rock Gods said the reason why they started a band was solely for love of music. I’m sure all those teenagers started bands in their mom‘s garage did it for the music not because to be cool, , the women, the attention and money.
People buy Rolex because yeah, it’s well built, and appreciates, that’s a given but more importantly because everyone will know they own a Rolex and see it on the wrist.

Supposedly the good fakes are difficult to discern even with the back cover off.
And lets be realistic here, a real genuine submariner with no precious metal upgrades probably costs Rolex about $500 to make by the time it's ready for them to ship out and the bulk of that is probably QC.

Here’s a fake with the “floating m”
Hardly noticeable at all(the m after 300)

There is an authentic one on the Rolex forum with it as well, must have slipped through the QC. I doubt there are very many.

How do you explain people buying expensive watches that the average person has no idea about?

quote:look up 'ghost factories'. there have been instances where the factories that produce the real watches had workers coming in after-hours creating unauthorized copies using the same materials and process.

i think alot of that has been shut down and companies like rolex would never allow production to take place outside of switzerland because it would kill their brand overnight.

The bezel looks misaligned on that one.
And the previous post in here with the fake vs real pic you can tell by the cyclops magnification

So yea, you can tell.
If you subscribe to the "strictly for the image" school of rolex buying, why the hell would you buy a real one?

I could never buy and wear a fake watch, because I would know it’s fake and it would do nothing for me
If I was just doing it for “show” then yeah I don’t get why that type of person would buy a real watch.

Any opinions on the Longines Spirit Zulu
or Breitling Superocean

Me either, and I'm not a watch guy, but I certainly can't tell the difference in the pictures.
Makes me wonder how many of the rollies I see out in the wild are fakes.
