I got passed by a guy one time with his phone in one hand, fooling with his laptop on the seat beside him with the other, and steering with his knees.
My favorite is the African American female cruising in the left lane of the interstate at 65 in a 75 with her phone stuck to her ear.

You will have zero effect, but whatever makes you feel good.

Dumbass. At least use Waze if you don't have a radar detector.

One time I drove next to a guy holding his phone and watching a movie while he drove for 10 minutes on 190 between Erwinville and BR. He wasn’t even trying to hide it. He was holding his phone up higher than the dash board. It was the damnedest thing I’ve ever seen.

Have to go 75 in that parish. Have to look closely to make sure you are watching the parish line.
Many parishes will try to get money this way.
They have been doing this since I-49 was built.
When speed limit was 55 they gave out more tickets and tickets were close $120-$200, could be more depending on speed.

They got me driving through from Thibadaux to Missouri one afternoon. Went 10-15mph over for 10 hours that day, and many many other days along these routes N/S from MO to LA, and the only place I ever have had a problem is with Evangeline Sheriff's Office on a US interstate.

Two cops, parked behind the barrier over a bayou or ditch bridge on the northbound lane. These dumbasses hide behind the railing on a slight rightward curve, and then a fat white guy pops out actually INTO the right northbound lane and grabs a quick laser speed reading. (They have to be stationary, facing you head-on, and typically not even in their car in order to get a good laser reading.) They then wave drivers over. The black officer gets to write the ticket, and I had a sense he knows it's extortion.
Some other commenters are stating to buy a radar detector - these guys are pros and are using laser, not radar. So, unless you spend $30000 on a laser scrambler, you're not going to avoid.
I'll drop another line - in the US, the further south you go, the more malignant the policing is, hard stop. I've paid a $200 fine before - $175 plus $25 court costs - but never, ever have I had an almost $300 ticket. It's $125 for speeding, and $165 for DA-set "court fees". That's literally extortion, in aid to keeping a very, very, very shitty little parish afloat.
I guess the public service the SO are doing on the interstate is getting people - anyone, anywhow - to even stop in their crap little parish.

Mad?? I'm sure Ville Platte appreciates the influx of cash. Slow down.

Fwiw, tickets are tickets and I don’t mind paying them. But what sucks is when you get a ticky tack clearly speed trap ticket and it sits on your record for 30 months. That’s what’s shitty.

But why?
I get going fast is fun, but if you're not doing 120, just go the speed limit.
Posted on 1/10/22 at 9:25 am to thekid
I honestly did not know Louisiana had a speed limit of 75 anywhere on their highways.

I49 between opelousas and ellic is the only place I know about
And then you get into Texas and it seems like 2 lane neighborhood roads are 75mph

Jeanerette --- local police give you a ticket for being white and driving

I know about west Texas. Last time I drove I-10 through there I noticed the limit dropped to 65-70? at night. After I saw all the dead dear on the roadside it made sense.
