Pussywillows you have posted some great photos, really enjoyed them.
1.) those are professional quality photographs, it would seem; and
2.) you're supremely blessed to reside in a place with so much nature and shite - city life does not afford us such luxuries. :(
Thanks again.

Thanks! I always hesitate to bump this thread, because I'm not sure how many people are really interested...and most of my recent subjects have been bugs, so that further narrows down the interest, lol...
That said, here are a few shots of my boy, Rocket...

This is the best thread on this website in my humble nature-loving opinion.

Do any of you have cardinals without feathers on their heads?
This guy looks like skeletor.
Just wondering if anyone else cringes when they look up and see one.

yeah, cardinals look pretty bad when they're molting...

Blue Jays usually hide in shame when they molt.
Not really, but they and other birds tend to lay low during the molt. Outside of when they are fledglings, it is probably the most dangerous period of their lives. If they molt their flight feathers, not all do with every molt, they're extremely vulnerable until their new feathers come in. They'll usually head to wooded or brushy areas where they can stay in cover.
ETA: That usually is the time when you start hearing people say, "Where did all the birds go?"
That's not my pic above, but I've seen a couple of skin head jays over the years.

Post em up! I've been mostly reduced to nighttime shots on the porch lately. Been hot and busy, then wet and busy. Not a whole lot of rambling time, and that needs to change.
Here's a very lucky parasitic wasp. I didn't even notice the assasin bug at first. I was close to getting the catch, but I think I spooked the wasp first.
We've had a bumper crop of Pale Green Assasin Bugs this year. Just walking around the other day I counted over twenty.
I've seen a few of these over the years, but have never been able to figure out what they are. Turns out, they're assasin bug eggs.

I found a similar patch on one of my pecan trees...it was wheel bug eggs...
So here are some assorted mating/eating shots...

i submitted a help request, but i haven't heard anything back...it seems that it may be related to cropping, but there's not really any rhyme or reason, lol...

Took a road trip to Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, and saw a good variety of birds...
Neotropic cormorant
Various moulting great tailed grackles
Tricolored heron
Least bittern
Laughing gull
Clapper rail
Common gallinule
Yellow crowned night heron
Oops! How did that get there??

At my mom's house in north Louisiana. She feeds them every day.
Bluebird (small solid blue) that might be an Indigo Bunting
Eastern Bluebird with a bit of tan
Cardinals
Blue Jay
Tufted Titmouse
Mourning Dove
Hummingbirds (a couple of varieties)
Gray Catbird
Wren
maybe some more I can't identify.
and crows that will come in and raid her feeding station.
