This isn’t going to fly, the Boston Strong movement was nationwide, so this was not a factor in determining guilt.

If he wanted a fair trial he shouldn’t have have committed terrorism on our soil. He should have been beheaded on the mound at Fenway Park before first pitch.

Actually, his lawyer is just doing his job. As others have said, if he didn’t make this motion then it could be declared a mistrial if his lawyer intentionally sandbags/doesn’t give a full defense.

You’re judged by a jury of your peers, not a jury of your peers least likely to convict you.
He chose to kill and mutilate the very people who would eventually judge him... he chose to do that.
And ultimately, frick him. Our founding fathers would’ve already drug his arse behind a horse to the town center and hung his arse.

His intent was to harm and terrorize, now he has to face the terror he instilled in that community, so I'd say it's fair and isn't mob mentality.

Fair trial? He admitted guilt.

Whatever happened to "a jury of his peers"? Dude chose to blow the hell out of Boston, making Bostonians his peers.
Or do we forget that bit of jury of his peers?

With international coverage of the incident, where exactly did he think he could be tried and get a different result?
I guess the OP's question is whether there is a difference, in terms of the biases of the jurors and whether the defendant could get a fair trial, in Boston, the city actually impacted by the events, or another city not as directly impacted.
I think a fair jury could be found in Boston. I actually think it would have been possible in Boston to find 12 people who had not heard of the event. Probably would need extensive jury questioning, but I do not think it would be impossible. Would it be easier 200-300 miles away? Yes. Impossible? No.

His own lawyers conceded guilt in court. I don't see how you get around that on a direct appeal. If this were a PCR, that's another thing, but it isn't. And I don't see how a change of venue would have resulted in a different sentence. New England is one of the most progressive areas of this country and they still voted for death.

if your family members had been impacted by the bombings would your be all up on this virtue pedestal for this murderer? I mean who really gives a shite about this?
Posted on 12/27/18 at 7:20 pm to BayouCatFan
Why this guy wan't whisked away to some CIA black site dungeon is a mystery to me. I don't give a shite if he is a citizen. Sweat him for information about his network and then either send him to Chechyna as a double agent or disappear his arse. But filing legal appeals funded by tax payer dollars from Florence shouldn't be an option for him.

He chose to commit the act he did in that jurisdiction.
He chose to commit an act of such a magnitude that it would cause fear in all the population.
What part about a trial in Boston is not fair?

It didn't matter if it was in Boston or Seattle. I would have made the jury understand that it was an attack on America that could happen in any city.
Three people were killed because of his actions and many were injured and it traumatized a city.
Timothy Mcveigh was executed. This piece of shite should join Mcveigh.

Scruffy contends that if you hold that he didn’t have a fair trial there, he would not have a fair trial anywhere in the USA.
He received as fair of a trial as he would receive anywhere in this country.
