Simply let it go.

Unless you spend hundreds of thousands each month, is it the hassle overall.

Gives you heartache and grief over a penny.

Otherwise…got into the parking lot and search for Penney. One word of advice? Watch for cars, even those that don’t shoot.

I said something to the bartender but he just shrugged.

I might mention it to the owner one day.

I see signs at a lot of places regarding penny shortage. They still made 2026 pennies. And it’s not like all of the pennies out there suddenly vanish because the stopped production.

No. But the method of getting the pennies was done away with.

Sounds like you could start a very profitable business offering pennies to local businesses so they can continue having them as currency. I'm sure they would pay for a penny than it is worth.....

In Baton Rouge, I know Poboy Express, Albasha, and Tsunami restaurants are doing this.

Team Toyota parts department is doing this also.

It's hidden on the bottom of the receipt.

A friend's business had the 4% charge for people paying with cards. Someone went online and bitched about it, most people told the person it was just reality these days.

Friend said he didn't want the convo happening again so he printed up menus with a 4% increase and offers a cash discount now.

They quit making pennies so I think this is kind of the plan going forward.

I absolutely loathe pennies and am glad they did away with them.

You are 100% correct. The downvotes are from some poor folks or conspiracy theorists who wont use cards.

card companies have been charging a fee for years - why is it a big deal now?

I don’t get why a place like Tsunami would even pass that on to customers - they are pretty well established and should be making a profit by now. Plus it can be taken off as a business expense.

The problem is there is no governing rule. Nothing in the books. All business were left to figure it out. Even old registers are backed by software and upgrades are done to handle it. Instead of getting a couple pennies back you get a nickel. Could cost medium size business in the 6 figures by year end.

Collectors buy pennies by the box. 50 rolls per box. I just saw on FB a friend got 30 boxes from his bank. Told him that would be the last time they would have them by the box.

I guess because there was a big online discussion where his business was brought into it.

The service charge has been there for years.

The crazy thing is we have enough pennies in circulation to satisfy needs for decades.
