Canada won't let people in for DWI but the US releases Mexican criminals back on the streets of the US and everyone says Canada is some sort of utopia for immigrants.
Australia is the worst when it comes to illegal immigrants. Those people are massive hypocrites. They literally send their illegal immigrants to concentration camps.

I've heard about that. They're on little islands out in the middle of the pacific too.

Wait, you can't even go on vacation to Canada with a DUI on your record? A bunch of us are going in less than a month and I know one friend has more than one. Is she going to be turned away at the airport? Or is this only if you want to move/work in Canada?

Yep, that's where they send the ones they really don't want.
They have other Immigration Detention Facilities, Immigration Transit Accommodation Centres, Alternative Places of Detention and Immigration Residential Housing Centres on the mainland as well. Basically just different tiers of concentration camps for illegal immigrants.
If you get caught there illegally, you're fricked. But we're literally Hitler because Trump said he wants a wall.

I heard they send you to a re-education camp until you start calling Ham Bacon.

Not to start a thing, but Trump did say that he likes Australia's policy on illegal immigrants, and heven wants to emulate it.

I think it's a fine idea. I'm just saying that the Australian people are hypocrites. So are the british and mexicans. They have hardcore immigration policies and then criticize the US for trying to enforce our laws.

Any of you guys know anyon who's been in this situation?
Two of my fraternity brothers go caught up with this when we were going to our formal in Toronto.
After about 45mins at the border they let us in. They pretty much told them next time you have to request permission to enter Canada before hand.

Yea the turn down people from western countries with visas all the time. The Border show about Australia is crazy
But yea they put people who are illegals on this island off the NW coast.

It applies to all entries.

Pick better friends.

Possibly if she has multiple convictions on her record. Most people in this thread seem to get in, but I doubt those stories involve repeat offenders.

I hear that they don't want you there if you've got a past DUI.

An easy way to get in (no border patrol) is by using the PCT. You'll need to print out a permit to enter Canada via the US, fly to Washington, drive to Harts Pass, WA, hike north on the PCT until reaching Manning Park, BC (~30.5 miles in the US, 9 miles in Canada). Once you're there, hitch a ride to Vancouver, BC and then hop on a bus headed for whatever city you're trying to get to.
Seems like a lot...but it's the easiest way to get in with prior DUIs

Article 894 in 2008 and just went to Canada (after doing a bunch of research). Will provide sources later.
Most likely nothing will happen. They do not have access to your criminal record at Primary inspection (the guard shack you drive through) and are instructed not to ask about criminality unless they send you to secondary inspection. They can send you to secondary randomly either based on suspicion or in some cases randomly. If you're at secondary inspection they have access to the FBI criminal database.
If you have completed all aspects of your article 894 you are technically admissible, however you entry in the FBI database may not show it so have paperwork on you just in case.

I drove through Canada moving back to the lower 48 from Alaska. Had a 10 year old dwi on my record and didn't even think it would will show up or be that big of a deal anymore. They let me in but I had to pay $250 for a temporary citizenship. It was bull shite.
Edit: this was in 2011.
