And what if you run into the bollards in front of the fuel pump?

Explain the Camero then.

I’ve had literally 15 vehicles and my Camaro is the first on the right ever. I’ve had Nissans, Fords, Chevys, GMC, Jeeps, Plymouth’s, but no the frickin Camaro has to be on the right side in a car with a million blind spots.

What makes it worse is I drive the Camaro maybe 2x’s a week so I rarely need gas, so it screws it all up for me. At least my Silverado is still Left side.

I had forgotten all about gas caps behind the license plate!

Light on my gf's car comes on when she gets to around 17gal empty. She has a 24gal tank. I'm guessing she had her fuel pump replaced at some point, and the arm wasn't bent down low enough. Took me a while to push the limits, and I ran out of gas a block away from my house once.

My F250 would go from 100mi to empty to completely out of fuel in like 10 seconds. Ran that out of fuel twice.

Current truck has a custom tank. I haven't run it out of gas, but I'm assuming I can go ~100mi on the highway once the light comes on

I hated those. Those were hard to fill completely.

You do realize that most of the world, other than the UK, Ireland, some commonwealth countries and a few random other, drive on the same side as we do, right?

I really don’t understand your complaint.

The perfect spot was behind the license plate or at the decklid like older cars.
Better still was the Jaguar XJ. Had two eight gallon tanks, one on each side. You had a selector switch like in a small plane.

I also like the Porsche fuel door as it's always easy to get to on either side. What irks me, is that pretty much every gas station has a simple LCD screen with a graphic. On that graphic is a Porsche 911 with a gas hose in it's left quarter panel instead of it's fender. Drives me nuts.

Why would an American car maker design a car with the fuel door on the passenger side? It fricks up the flow of traffic at the pumps.
How does it mess up the flow of traffic at the pumps? You do realize there are 2 sides to a pump?

It’s such an odd compliant. Makes no sense to me.

Thought the same thing, but I got a Ford Explorer for my Son that has the same thing. First time I ever had an American made car with it that way.
I will say it's one of those cars that don't have a cap you unscrew. You just open the door.

What is funny about that scene is that he eventually finds it near the hood.

If that was a real car with the gas cap in the front then the designers really need to be ashamed for their lack of safety.

It wasn't the placement of the fuel neck, it was that those cars didn't have the tank venting we do now. I have had a few old cars and they all do it. It takes a lot longer to fill a tank too. Similar to that would be in a modern car if your fuel tank canister clogs and your vehicle is hard to fuel.
I had a 90's B-Body chevy Impala and it filled it's 25 gallon tank quick and a little over 25.

(would get from NOLA just outside Austin on a tank of gas)

My Subaru was built on an assembly line in Indiana and it has a right side fuel door.

My first car was a '63 VW bug dune buggy conversion. The tank access was under the hood (front). There was no gas gauge just a lever to flip to dump a reserve gallon of gas into the main tank.

really? Do you not understand how flow works? Were your parents salmon?

If filler location were standardized (left or right) everyone at the pump would be facing the same way.

Years ago, I had someone get upset because I didn’t pull up to the farthest pump. He was trying to back in behind me because his filler was opposite of mine. He put it back in drive and pulled around the lot to the pump in front of me. My filler on my CJ was right rear.

Is it that big of a deal? No, but standardization is always nice and keeps things moving.

We don’t buy vehicles made in America.

I hate the no gas cap shite that vehicles use now.
