Your neighborhood sounds like mine, back in the day. (We are gentrifying, and the riff raff seems to be thinning out.) Still carry pepper spray for the random dog whose owner doesn’t gaf. Only had to use it once, but had an owner get uppity with me recently when I alerted him to the possibility.

Not deaf. He's ignoring you to establish dominance.

It just blows my mind that a whole group of people can be so oblivious to the fact that the rest of us don't want to closely interact with their dog.
It's seriously every week at least one person posts "OMG my fluffy boy got out again HEHE if yall see him please let me know!!!!!"
Dogs don't have thumbs or the ability to open doors. Contain them... it's not that fricking hard and them getting out every few days to piss, shite and lick people with impunity isn't cute

Just an FYI, 99% of all cats have the distinct ability (and they practice this ability 99% of the time) to ignore you to the point that they appear to be deaf.
Oh I know, but with this white coat/blue eye color combo, there's a genetic component at play here. Little Milo is very much actually deaf but it will make little difference in his quality of life now.

Who has the weirder owners?

dog people are weird as frick.
most cats are chill.

Thanks to you. Kudos for the rescue.

You never see anyone bring a cat into a grocery store.
Or a bar, or a cafe, or a big box store, or to an event they are invited to at your house.
People and their "Fur Baby" attitude is entirely off the charts today. I distance myself from people with that mentality.

My dog doesn’t know what a leash is. She would never make it in any kind of establishment. She takes after me and despises shopping, neighborhoods, cats, and people that annoy you.

The vast majority of cat owners will never tell you about their cat. You probably don’t know they have
Many dog owners will unsolicitedly show you pictures of their mutt from the pound and bring him to Home Depot

This is a thing now? I don't eat out much so I guess I've avoided it thus far, but man WTF.
Went to dinner with a girl that brought her python. And no that's not a euphemism.
Cat people can be weird but modern dog people are insufferable.

But nobody tops snake people.
Dogs are great, cats are tolerable.
My dog doesn't walk all over my countetops or destroy the furniture. And litter boxes are disgusting.

In my experiences …cats a spawns of satan. I get along with dogs much better than most humans. I don’t mind dogs being in public places.

I hope he’s healthy and things go well. You did a good thing. Whoever abandons domesticated animals on the side of the road needs their arse beat.

I don't really have a problem with dogs in public places, the problem is ALWAYS the owner. Good owners have good dogs that know their place and don't freak out, or they don't bring them out. The Bulldog is a good example of how a bunch of dogs can just hang out and not be a problem. It's always the people.

there is unpicked up shite everywhere, dogs being walked without leashes
I see both of these too often. People walking their big arse dogs leashless on the street. Even the small ones are a danger to get run over if they’re along the road
And poop everywhere. At least cats bury their poop. Even worse when the dogs’s trashy owners know about it but don’t give AF

People who bring their dogs to stores and restaurants are the absolute worst. I love my dogs but they don't need to accompany me in public.
I stay far away from dog friendly establishments.

The guy who literally bowed up to me cause I tried to shoo his dog who was sitting in my flower bed was top tier trash
WHAT ARE YOU DOING WERE YOU GOING TO HIT HIM??
I was trying to get him to stop he was sitting in my flower bed!
SO WHAT??? IM GONNA PICK IT UP!!!
first off he was probably never going to the dog was totally unsupervised for a few minutes just wandering the street...second... there was still shite on one of the bushes...my son was almost 2 at the time and liked to run around the yard flopping in these bushes.
But I guess it was selfish of me to wanna keep the lord's chosen creature from dedicating on my property...I shoulda have been a good neighbor and been cool with it
