My son is also 9 and is also into football, as someone mentioned above, last year he got a Taysom Hill Jersey and a bunch of football cards.

One of my godchildren is that age, and it was the hardest gift I bought this year for exactly the reason you describe.
He wanted a hoodie and gift cards for Fornite gift card things, so that's what we did. I got a Nike set of sweat pants and hoodie. Apparently all the kids are wearing sweats 24/7 these days versus jeans.

Mine wanted certain players sports jerseys, a murrucci store gift card or a visa gift card so he could get what ever he wanted

My 10y is big into football/baseball cards at the moment. Those are really good smaller gifts

I see a lot of people mentioning football and baseball cards… I didn’t think that was still a ‘thing’ for kids these days. Might have to probe a little and see if that’s something he’d be interested in
shite, I might pull out my old collection and see if it draws his interest

Same problem here. Mine isn't into sports at all and is a big nerd, so the stuff he wants is very expensive. We did get the Toybox 3d printer as a combo gift for all the kids, but it's mostly for him. Some legos, a video game, a few books he wants, and a new sparring mask so he doesn't have to take off his glasses when he's sparring round out the gifts.

He's into hunting and fishing and baseball and you can't figure out gifts...at 9/10 years old? Not kidding, you're gonna hate yourself when gets to about 15.

How about Joggers from MLB. com or Fanatics.com. Does he have a favorite MLB team?

My nephew goes into a semi coma going through them.

Love this thread. "He's into hunting and fishing"
Nah, you're into hunting and fishing and you drag his little butt with you.

Legos?
I may have just outed myself as not having kids.

My boy got a fly tying kit from his grandfather last year and got really into it. He’s 11 now and still very into it. It’s been a great hobby for him. He’s getting a new fly rod and a fancy Swiss Army knife this year.

Get him into something that won’t turn him into a zombie tethered perpetually to its phone, wandering though life oblivious to the world around him. My suggestion…

Does LA still sell a lifetime hunting and fishing license for kids?

Funny story, we were at a local sporting goods store this past weekend, and before we checked out, a guy approached my son (he was in full uniform on our way to a game) and asked him if he ever heard of BB.. my son told him ‘yes sir’ and the guy gave him a $150 gift card to use on their website
Kid has all the luck

I have a nephew that age who is obsessed with all things football. Instead of getting him his favorite player’s jersey (Derrick Henry) I started getting him jerseys of fictitious football players. Bobby Boucher, Al Bundy, and Shane Falco were the first three. This year he’s getting Reno Hightower.
