Dayton, Ohio
I had fun in Dayton several years ago. Some solid bars, plus an old school record store and hat shop downtown which had classy fedoras like my grandpa used to wear.
For the record, I'm not a hipster.

When you say “surprisingly just ok…” I get that you’re alluding to going in with higher expectations, and being somewhat letdown.
That said, Denver, Nashville and Austin for me. I like all three, but none lived up they hype.
Denver, overall, is pretty plain and generic. Nothing too exciting.
Nashville was overhyped. Downtown has plenty to do, other parts are small clusters and is frustrating to get to/from. It’s impossible to get into a restaurant there as well.
Austin is severely overcrowded. I found Austin traffic to be the worst. It was the dirtiest and most congested of the three. 6th Street and the overspill onto Rainey Street was largely unenjoyable, as it was just way too crowded and chaotic. Sensory overload. It probably was a great place 20-30 years ago.

I'd never spend $ on a flight to NOLA. I hate spending $5 to cross the bridge to go to Metairie.
But you pay to live in Baton Rouge
That’s wild

What?..You can go to new orleans without dealing with the bullshite.
..it's just going to cost a little more.
