I understand but the whole point should be about staying away from people with serious pre-existing conditions, especially if you have been exposed to roommates who are positive. I don’t think our country should be shutting down or forced mask wearing, but people should be smart, and in OPs situation with daughter, it would make sense either to get tested another time or 2 over next few days, and if negative, to still be cautious around mom, or just stay away till quarantine is over.

That last sentence was long as frick

Despite what people will say, CDC provides the most reliable information.

But tell your wife to wash her hands often, they can wear mask when around each other.. But if she test negative tomorrow, I wouldn't really worry that much about it.

Wrong. Takes up to 5-6 days to show signs. It's day 5 for our daughter, no signs yet. She will get tested tomorrow.

No...it can take up to 14 days.

Granted...it appears most don't take that long...but some do.

Hence the reason for 14 day quarantines. CDC doesn't just randomly pull these numbers for these recommendations out of the air.

Yep can take 2-14 days, 5-7 days is the average. You are contagious from about 48 hours before symptoms start til about 10 days after symptoms start.

I wouldn’t let her come home, you will almost assuredly get it and I wouldn’t let your wife take the crapshoot with a bad heart.

I mean, be honest here: you are absolutely hiding your wife.

Is your plan to completely isolate her until a vaccine is available? Because otherwise you are going to be hiding her forever.

Not saying you are wrong, just generally curious. I'm assuming you didn't hide her during flu seasons. Did she get the vaccine yearly?

Your family knew the dangers of your daughter being on campus during this. College students are reluctant to take any precautions, so it is likely that your daughter will eventually be positive. I would skip her coming home at thanksgiving in hopes that she can come home at Christmas

U.S. health officials say Americans shouldn’t wear face masks to prevent coronavirus — here are 3 other reasons not to wear them

Though health officials have warned Americans to prepare for the spread of the novel coronavirus in the U.S., people shouldn’t wear face masks to prevent the spread of the infectious illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. surgeon general.

You need to wait until at least 7-10 days after the last day of exposure. A negative test in that window decreases the odds of a later positive test substantially. It won't be zero, but you could feel pretty good about your chances. Tests before that are simply too early.

Uh, there's a difference between hiding her and deciding to not knowingly expose her to a high risk individual.

We have completely lost all ability to function over a virus with an overall 0.5% mortality rate(much lower for most age ranges)

What the frick would this country do with an actual crisis?

No it isn’t

You aren’t promised tomorrow. That doesn’t mean you cross the street without looking

Safe precautions equivalent to this would be washing hands and not being around sick people

What people are actually doing is refusing to cross the street at all...

Most heart conditions aren't going to get worse or kill her with getting corona. Corona is like a mild flu so would you keep your daughter home if she had the flu?

I agree the experts on here might not give great advice but the CDC has given conflicting advice at various times in this process. If I thought they were gaining more pertinent information when they changed their opinions, I might be somewhat inclined to believe them. But they often seem confused.

I understand your wife wanting her to come home, but I think you also should consider how your daughter would feel if her mama became ill.

Corona symptoms

Being a baby and blowing it out of proportion. If you feel bad just stay your arse at home a few days to rest up. Not the “recommended 14 day quarantine”. Do not get tested and add to their retarded statistics to further pump the agenda. Common fricking sense IMO. Something modern society lacks.
