Then why are you posting this?
KBON shared it, so I thought it was big news.

Circa 2006 walked up to the bar and was going to order 6 shots of wet pussy.
Problem was the bartender was my grandmother's age.
So I said... The pink shots.
In an attempt to be cute, she made some joke about not giving them to me until I said it. I couldn't. Ordered six shots of crown. Back to back.
Joke was on her, triple threat that night of the trashiest blonde brunette and redhead you've ever seen

Lots of good memories from that place circa 2009-2011. I actually never went there when I was of drinking age lol.
Cowboys was an institution.

True story, back in 1994 we got in a huge brawl in the parking lot and I ended up punching a cop and found myself in the drunk tank. Thankfully it was an accident and a misunderstanding and after a few phone calls I was released.

I never spent enough time in Lafayette to make it over there.

We were talking about fights and shite that we had gotten into in our younger years and I brought up gang fights.
I said, “You ever been in a gang fight?”
Him: “Just once. My sophomore year at USL, we were at JR’s and a black fraternity walked in…”
Me: “A black fraternity at JR’s? JR’s was a country bar. What the frick was a black fraternity doing at a country bar?”
Him: “That’s exactly what I asked them!”

While talking to Larry one day he lamented how difficult running a bar was.
He said the hardest part was dealing with all of the Ca$h.
Late 80’s me and a group from Red’s were there to dance (I can’t dance) great band (all black laying down some jam) little dude squares up wanting to fight. The entire band tells him he was too small to fight.me.
I used to meet my ride to duck hunt at Sam’s around 4:00 each morning and remember a line around cowboys to get it.

While talking to Larry one day
Larry passed away in 2021. The entire Bacque family were involved with horses and some of the best rodeo horse ropers from SW LA.
I don't think Larry was ever the same after his son Ken was killed in 2004. He blamed himself for the tragedy. Ken got into a heated altercation with Larry and pulled out a knife threatening his dad. Scott Police were called and unfortunately, Ken was shot by a PO. One of Ken's sons was the youngest winner (15 yrs old) of the LA. High School Rodeo Championship All-Around.
Country music and Wrangler jeans were never my thing. Had quite a few friends who frequented the Yellow Rose and Cowboys with crazy stories of bar fights and late nite hook-ups.

I loved cowboys in Lafayette. It was way cooler than the cowboys in lake charles.
It felt like an actual dance hall that you’d find in Texas. Was a great change of pace in Lafayette. From the solid bar scene they have.
Hopefully someone comes in and buys the building to keep it going under a new name.

I hated that place. Almost always came to fighting in there because of how many douche bags were present in 1 place. Over nothing too.
