I have a feeling we're about to break the daily record for lowest high temp in North AL on Friday. 16° is the record set on 12/23/1989. 18° is the lowest forecast of the ones I follow, but this trough seems plenty aggressive enough to bottom out early Friday morning in the 4°-6° range, and it is going to be a struggle to bring temps up. 18°/8°, 22°/9°, and 19°/10° are the forecasts currently. I think that 22 is ambitious.

That forecast I have been following had been bouncing around between 7-10 degrees for the low on Thursday. I had pretty much gotten used to it and figured it would be in that range
Well I just looked again and the forecasted low is now FOUR
frickING FOUR DEGREES
Dear God
Nervous about a lot of pipes now

quote:just got back from Kauai today. The Kona low took out a line of huge trees in the south part of the island yesterday as we were going for a ride. Look like a path of a tornado and took out the power lines as well when the trees fell on the lines.Shut down access to the south side of the island with tress and power lines in the street so we headed back north.
Kona Low Brings Turbulent Weather to Hawaii
Got back here and a artic blast is on the way after swimming on the ocean all week.

No precip but frickin' cold. Wind will be blowing pretty hard and you'll be dipping into the teens. Sunshine wont bring much relief due to the wind.
I’m going grocery shopping at 0700 Friday morning. I don’t care if the wind chill is single digits. If that’s what it takes to not have to deal with the hordes of people for this weekend, bundle up butter cup.

Freezing rain is the fricking worst. I want the sweet, sweet cocaine from the sky or nothing at all!
Oh I hate it. When we were stationed in NY and the temps would creep above freezing it would do that freezing rain...combine that with snow on the ground made for a frozen layer on top of the snow about an inch or two deep. Sucked arse.

This explains why this country votes like it does. Sheer stupidity.

Canadian goes ridiculous with radational cooling. It has been getting the air too cold in the Yukon, keeps getting it too cold on the way down, and radiates too much over you.
Do check the good ole NAM though. I find it pretty damn good with these dense cold air masses.

What was it prior to the latest run?

You can't really tell because it is just now getting into range of the full day for Friday.
The takeaway, for my area of North AL, is that it has trended a bit more aggressive with the trough which drops our temps a little lower and makes the high temp on Friday lower than some other models.

If you listen to mother earth she will tell you. You probably can't hear her because of the deodorant and anti bacterial soaps you're covered in.
