Yeah I just expected the pasture to be white because everything was still soaking wet at midnight.
I went run the hose for a few minutes to see if I could make some fake white sneaux but it stayed liquid. I do have ice forming in standing water. Checking in at 27 in Cut Off.

-5 here with wind chill -21.
Heat running almost non-stop.
Heat pumps suck in this kind of weather.

Yes they do. I don’t know why the frick the people in the house before us installed one. In Kentucky. Where we get below 20 often enough that it struggles.

SO when the front got here last night the wind from it knocked our phones and Internet out til about 7 am this morning
We have really shitty service in our area that just randomly goes out for about 12 hours every other month or so for no reason and century link and AT&T use the same line here so when it happens we lose phone service/internet AND home internet. It really sucks. At least last night they have the excuse of the wind maybe knocking it out somehow
In other news, when I woke up at about 730 this morning it was 56 degrees in my house despite thermostat being set to 70. Heat wasn't running at all. Started jacking around with it and it just wouldn't do anything. Checked the breakers and none appeared to be tripped but I went ahead and and flipped them off and back on anyways and at some point during all that the heat started running again.
Anybody have any ideas what could've caused it to flip the breaker? Just worried it's gonna do it again tonight at 1 am and leave us SOL with no heat to keep pipes from bursting. Obviously the heat was running harder/longer than it's ever had to run since we have owned the house so it may simply have just tripped it from overload but in my experience there's usually a deeper issue involved
FWIW our HVAC runs off propane but of course has the backup auxiliary heat system

Bottomed out at 9.9. No rounding on my watch. Counting it as single digits.

This is the most beautiful day of the year; only to be surpassed by tomorrow and the day after.
I say this for my area only where it’s a balmy and brilliant 23°

There are some morons down the street letting their yard work crew cut grass and use the blowers right now. What good is the fricking blower going to do this morning?

At 730 this morning my weather station said it was 0.5 degrees. It says the lowest it got overnight was 0.0

If you have a furnace that runs on propane that is a very small electrical load since the only things powered by electricity will be the blower motor and control board in the unit. Plus you said no breakers were tripped so maybe you just reset it by killing power temporarily.
Now if that “auxiliary heat” runs on electricity, that’s a different story. Heat pumps consume as much power as running the air conditioner and resistive heating is very electrically energy intensive. So that may have had an effect.

If it's sunny and calm, a freezing day really is not so terrible.
That's a big if, though.
Because even the slightest breeze reiterates how cold it really is.

We bottomed out this morning at 1° at around 7am. It is currently 7° with a -11° wind chill.
ETA: It is, in fact, miserable.

Currently -3 here but weather app says feels like -25. Probably got 4-5 inches of snow. Pipes didn’t freeze though which is good.
Woke up at 3 when it was -11 and stepped outside. No thanks.

When I do replace my AC unit, I will be thinking about a heat pump or running natural gas to the house.
I used 12 kWH in the 6 am hour to heat the house, to power the water heater since I was running the water, and to power the oven to cook breakfast. Entergy app says that 12 kWH will cost me 1.62 just for that hour of electricity.
Even on the hottest day, my air conditioner running barely pulls half that electricity draw. So if it costs that much to heat depending on the price differential, it may be cost effective for the heat pump.
I set my thermostat to 60, and I just purchased an oil radiator heater to heat the living room better. I also, removed the window units and put some new weatherstripping on the doors.
I will hide under my electric blanket until it is over.
