Daniel Patrick Moynihan said that or predicted that in the 60s.

The country really does need thinking liberals like that in the discourse but there aren't any left as far as I can tell.

Think that was around the time of the Trayvon shooting.

The real problem is that the voting population that makes up the other 80% of this country has not absorbed, or is not sold on the fact that the problem is that serious yet, thus no need to offer up aggressive and invasive solutions like mandatory birth control.

In a democracy, it really doesn't matter if 15-20% of the voting public doesn't want to recognize the problem.

Obviously, a big percentage of the rest of the voting population isn't capable of recognizing it either,

thus it goes unsolved.

Please read my first post. Click on the link I provided and you will find the sort of solution you're (rightly) looking for.

I encourage you and anyone else interested in effectively addressing these problems to look for solutions in your own communities similar to the one I linked.

They're out there.

I appreciate you helping, but that is certainly not the norm. Most community leaders, preachers, politicians, rappers, etc blame everyone else for problems within the community. By doing that, you get rid of all personal responsibility and don't have any accountability when it gets bad. You can justify it by blaming it on others

That's a worthwhile project and I'm sure it's providing it's share of success stories, but it's like swatting an elephant with a fly swatter if we don't stop incentivizing unwed mothers to continue to have babies they can't take care of.

Programs like that might have a chance if we can slow down the flow of unsupervised and unwanted children being born at or below the poverty line.

It's simply unsustainable.

Just because Jackson and Sharpton don't talk about it in every speech does not mean that people aren't already aware of the problem.

If it's the root cause then that's exactly what they should be doing. Instead they can't wait to delve off into racism. Give a listen to Sharpton's radio program and guess what's talked about most as the cause of problems for blacks. (hint: it's not the disintegration of the black family)

Great. O'Riley wants to create a big gov't nanny state. Instead of the Democratic nanny state of welfare and handouts, he wants a nanny state of prohibition, incarceration, and indoctrination.

At some point you have to realize that there are some problems that gov't simply can't fix. In fact, by attempting to fix these problems, they actually either make the problems worse or cause bigger problems. Its comical.

So basically what you're saying is the community needs to do the job of the parents?

Therein lies the root of the problem.

example, in my home town there is an outstanding organization that works with young kids in the poorest neighborhood to: • Provide supplemental education • Teach socialization skills such as conflict resolution, self-responsibility, etc. • Provide mentors and role models • Teach healthy living habits, including diet, exercise, abstinence from drugs, etc.

What if I told you there were several programs at LSU that do all of this.

They'd rather pretend like cops and white people are at the root of all their problems.

No. But he says what most racist are thinking.

His stance on drugs is comical. Billo other assclown wants to double down on the war on drugs.

O'Reilly nailed it. Obama had a golden opportunity to tell it like it is about black culture setting the right example that could have addressed many of these issues. Instead he doubled down on support for the problem and has further divided our nation in the process.

Actually he IS correct. The Brookings Institute came up with a study a couple of years ago that said if you just do these three things you'll have a less than 2% chance of living in poverty:

1) Get a high school diploma or GED.

2) Get a job.

3) Don't get married until you're at least 21 and don't have children prior to marriage.

These facts should be hammered into every child's head growing up (not just black kids, since the data extends to all races and backgrounds).

But I guess facts are racist.

This is exactly the reason they're on their backs. Socialism throughout history has tried to destroy both faith/church and families while normalizing destructive behaviors.
