Sounds like Disney is simply maximizing gross profit by raising the ticket price....

Example: A 300-room hotel in Las Vegas is filled to capacity every night at $80.00 a room. For each $1.00 increase in rent, 3 fewer rooms are rented. If each rented room costs $10.00 to service per day, how much should the management charge for each room to maximize gross profit? What is the maximum gross profit?

It certainly seems that Disney has become even more cult-like in recent years. And I mean the park, not Disney overall.

Growing up, adults who LOVE disney movies and characters was obviously a thing. Going to the Disney store, etc. But this park obsession seems relatively new, and I don't know why.

Economic stability must be playing a role. Disney consultants might also be driving it. But almost every time I go to the burbs lately I see this type of shite

and I don't remember that 5-8 years ago. Disney has become some suburban status symbol and it seems decreasingly related to enjoyment by children.

Homos that insist on hanging all over each other.
Unwashed foreigners and other assorted slobs

The rides are better, everything else is not. With that said, we usually hit up Universal for 2 days when making a Disney trip, but always stay at a Disney property.

Vegas is all about competition. You can get rooms at a nice hotel for reasonable prices.

Who is Disney's competition?

Disney is for kids.

It probably is overall although the main purpose being built was for families to enjoy a vacation together. You got things to do with different age groups.

They got things adult related too. I was there last year with some friends, went to universal as well but I had a great time at the food/wine festival and Disney springs is nice area to walk around.

Ski Resorts do same thing. Single day lift ticket to Vail is $220 if not more now. Vail Resorts season pass good at like 30 Vail properties is $699.

Man frick them. They are also now putting restrictions on what days locals who buy the season passes can go out on the slopes. Ski resorts have become insanely greedy money sucks.

I do it every year and I still don’t understand. The trip I’m taking in a couple of months will be the most expensive one so far, but I convinced my girlfriend to chill out on Disney trips after that.

For each increase in the number of guests, Disney's operational cost goes up.

Big box stores do the same thing with their cash registers. They need an increased amount of shoppers before they can pay another employee to operate a register.

But I believe they are making more money by doubling down on existing clients instead of gaining larger audiences.
This ticket price increase is for Disneyland in Anaheim, not Disneyworld in Florida.

The problem with Disneyland is that they can't really try to gain a larger audience because the park is already at maximum capacity throughout peak season and they can't expand the parks because they don't have available real estate there. It isn't like Disneyworld in Florida where Disney owns a shite ton of undeveloped land that they can use to expand parks and increase capacity.

These decision-makers aka bean counters at Disney are starting to remind me of some of the characters of Jurassic Park. I remember the lines in the movie when they are talking about how they "spared no expense" and could command top dollar. These lines pretty much sum up the Disney Bean Counters:

quote:

Donald Gennaro (Attorney) : And we can charge anything we want, 2,000 a day, 10,000 a day, and people will pay it. And then there's the merchandise...

John Hammond : Donald, Donald... This park was not built to cater only for the super-rich. Everyone in the world has the right to enjoy these animals.

Donald Gennaro : Sure, they will. Well, we'll have a, a coupon day or something.

I agree with this as well. Before we had kids and when we lived in South Georgia, we got a pair of annual passes for Universal and went 3 or 4 times in the year (I think it was about $250 per person for the entire year). It was such an incredible value, and watching that dumbass Poseidon's Adventure show while shite faced was good times.

Attendance was actually down at the parks for the past year, people were opting not to go prior to all the new attractions coming on-line. With the new rides and the Anniversary coming, 2020-2023 are anticipated to have record crowds. Disney is spending I think over 3 billion dollars on renovations/rides/attractions, etc. Prior to the renovations, they continually raised ticket prices in order to limit crowds and it did not drop attendance, but the new rides did cause some unanticipated low attendance until Star Wars opened. Disney is now seeing serious traffic in Parks that were never overcrowded before. Now that ROTR is up and running, Disneyland (as someone said before) can't take the people. DW is adding things to keep people from making that Universal trip while there and Universal Orlando will be opening another theme park by 2023, so everything will only get pricier.

That being said, how much do people pay for a Condo for a week at the beach in Gulf Shores? There are hundreds of ways to save on a Disney trip and people have allocated a tons of resources to show you how.
