The Island View in Gulfport had a $1 blackjack table and you you had to ante a quarter so unless you bet $2 you still lost $.25 if you won. It was worth it for the free beers and the people watching.

I think the sportsbook has potential to be a big liability week to week. Like most stuff they can have a the edge in the long run but stuff like college football is a limited sample and not 24/7
There are weeks the last few years where the house gets beat pretty bad financially

There are professional multimillion dollar sports betting pros. Friend of a friend worked for one. They have to use stringers and eventually when they win too much they refuse their bets. So it's a constant churn of people doing the betting.

I dealt blackjack before becoming a floorman right out of college. Plenty of shifts we lost on tables. But long term we always won. No reason for a casino to outright cheat when people are lining up to give you there money. Why anyone would play a 6:5 blackjack table is beyond me. But every casino along the Vegas strip pays that and folks are lined up for seats. Just as bad as a roulette wheel with 3 zero spaces.

No, the odds are already in their favor. They love it when a customer hits big, that just causes 100 other people to lose, trying to do the same.

This.
Most games have a huge house advantage. The best games to get good at are Blackjack, Baccarat and craps. Suckers play Roulette, the money wheel and slots. Typically the less thinking you have to do to make a wager the worse the odds.
Another thing is in a regulated state like Nevada, it's not worth getting caught cheating because Nevada Gaming can pull a casinos license .

The casinos don’t cheat but we used to go to the dumpiest casinos on the MS coast to see what we could get away with. The minimum bets were low and they usually had new dealers they were breaking in. If you sat at the first base spot, you could see the dealer’s downcard when they peeked at their cards. They had trouble counting complicated hands sometimes so if they hesitated, you could wave your hand like it was a push and the dealer would just do the same. One of the funniest was when we were deep into a shoe and the count was really good. The dealer threw me the cut card and I moved my hand to my lap as we played the hand. The dealer dealt out another hand after that and lots of big cards showed up. As the dealer was picking up the cards, I showed her the cut card and said Ooops! She was pissed but didn’t say anything because the boss would have held it against her for losing control of her game. Good times.

Not saying they do because I have no proof but I have certainly seen some very strange things back in my young gambling days.
Watched zero and double zero hit 8 times in a row on the roulette wheel @ Harrah’s.
Have also seen some very “sticky” dice tables where the dice don’t even bounce. They just kind of stick to the table when thrown.

Learn to set the dice and try to be as consistent as possible when throwing. I threw 23 times without a 7 showing. Made people money. I needed a 6 to hit the all tall small but I didn't get it. Still got tips but I wish I could have nailed the 6. Consistency is key. I made a few people money everytime I had the dice. I normally bet the don't come unless I have the dice. It's a fun game and I'm not there to win. Im just there to have fun.

I don’t believe they cheat. They don’t have to cheat. They can be satisfied with the odds that are in their favor.

I find it hilarious y'all think the casinos play it straight.
So many businesses look for an edge over the competition. And many are crooked as frick, but y'all think casinos aren't like the rest of the world.

I believe they get welfare checks back somehow. I've never seen any hot winners on the floor in ten some years I played holdem down there. Haven't been since the month before covid lockdowns hit BR.

And the odds are totally dispassionate. They will win, over the long haul, even with good players. Then you mix in morons, LCA included, and they do right well.

Absolutely
I was playing dollar slots a few years back @ Lauberge and the third row "malfunctioned" after 1st two were Double Diamond.
Just kept spinning

They don’t cheat, they play the long curve on the odds.. if you are to good at blackjack then they ban you for periods or for good.. they also know that most lucky winners simply give it back because they don’t walk away and bank profits.. throw in emotion and alcohol and only a few ever stand a chance

6:5 blackjack payout and that its a continuous five deck shuffle
This right here is infinitely more valuable to the casino than any type of cheating. But I would bet that half the people at a given low limit blackjack table do not have a clue of what 6:5 vs 3:2 even is, much less if is in play at that particular table. And it wouldn't affect their decision to gamble even if they did, as they don't have a clue how that difference in odds affects their long term gains/losses.
If there is any "cheating" being done by the casinos, it is done behind closed doors with the state legislators that oversee Casino Gambling.

I've been to a casino exactly 3 times in my life
Plus $25 on blackjack
Plus $55 on video poker
Plus $625 on slots
Just be smart about it... it's an event and not a payday... I got lucky all 3 times and I know it

Most people don’t understand statistics. Or rather they put statistics aside. OT posters excluded of course.
It’s why people have hope when they buy a mega millions ticket.
Even with blackjack, the house has the advantage even if you play everything perfectly by the book including splitting and doubling down. Yeah, you can get on hot streaks or play all night and come out ahead. But they don’t care. The room is full of other players and the odds are with the house.

They don't cheat. They dont havw to, people are just stupid.
Look at a roulette wheel:
See those green spots? That's how the house wins, over time.
Every other game has a similar edge...some with more of an edge (slots), some with less (blackjack).
But there's always an edge. The house doesn't lose.
