Current house was built in 2017. There’s not even a land line run to the house.
Prior to this house I had a 2009 build, which had land line connections I just never used.

My parents still had one until they moved at the end of last year. They had the same number since the 1970s.

Not since 2002
My parents still do and that’s probably the only landline I still call

I haven’t had one in about 20 years. My parents house still does because they can’t picture a home without one.

I kept my old landline number but dropped the AT&T service for it like 15 years or so ago and converted over to Ooma VOIP phone service. I pay $6 / month.
For emergency and I give that number out to all the companies that ask for a number that I don’t want to ever talk to. We never answer it.

Yes. Only $5 a month.
It's still good to have them in case of emergency.

Yup. House came with it 33 years ago when I bought it..free.. sits there… have used it on occasion when for some reason the company dealing with could not register my button instruction on my cell phone but landline phone worked? Was good when I recently got signed up for Medicare.. social security as I waited on hold for hours and hours and hours …
Also have a snazzy intercom am/fm radio system thought the rooms and front doors.. still works .. I think it has tubes? Do not actually use it.

My 84 yr old mother has one, hard pass for me for decade plus
Even my 82 year old mother got rid of hers about 5 years ago. I don't think I've had one in maybe 15 years. All they are good for is sales calls and crappy political surveys.

Years ago we ported our landline to a free Google Voice account using a $45 OBI voice adapter.
We provide that landline number when shopping online.
Today the only people who call it are telemarketers and a few clueless in-laws.
I did this about 15 years ago. Free landline ever since.
Use the landline number for important business that my wife and I need to both get calls for.
Have the line on DND so calls never go thru but we do get the voicemail messages from the important calls.
Unbelivable how much spam comes to a Google Voice number.
