re: Does anyone else find Tim Brando to be insufferable?

Yeah, I used to like Tim, he was a local boy done good, but then they started simulcasting his radio show down here back in the late 90;s and when you get to hear a guy for long periods of time - you get to know him and what he's about and for me - it exposed him as a person that was egotistical and self important and not very likable at all.
He is a prodigious name dropper. Outside of Pat O'Brien who sort of lampooned himself in that regard, I've never seen a more prolific name dropper in the business.
And to me he has a condescending manner that is very off putting - he really still thinks he's the bomb though relegated to doing third rate football and basketball games on fox seemingly oblivious to the fact he's pretty much in the minor leagues of broadcasting now - still thinking he's a voice of significance that we are all gathered around waiting for takes from.

This is an odd rant. If he was from South Louisiana, I bet he’d be a Legend.

The 318 Knights are here to serve.
Brando is a douche-canoe.

No one is as well respected as Tim Brando, just ask him.
Insufferable douche.
Insufferable douche.

Always did an impression of Bear Bryant in his earlier days claiming they were super tight. “I can do the impression because I WAS there”.

I don’t. He’s one of the best announcers around. Knowledgeable, to the point, doesn’t speak in ridiculous hyperbole like 99% of them do. I like him a lot.

His twitter is insufferable. He posts at least 8 times in a 24 hour span. He uses more emojis than a teenage girl.

I'd say he's desperate to be relevant, but I think he's oblivious to the fact that he's not. So I guess he just likes reading his own tweets.

Perhaps my greatest Goodwill find ever is a VHS tape promoting the then-new Shreveport neighborhood Southern Trace, which is this area's snootiest gated community.
Timmy B is the guy hosting it, and the douchebaggery is off-the-charts. "My line of work has taken me all over the world, allowing me to see the very finest master planned communities. Trust me, few compare," as he curls his lip and cocks an eyebrow. The whole tape is shots of the golf course, 80s saxophone solos, and Tim Brando being the most punchable man on earth.
I regularly screen this for guests it never fails to kill

A better question would be who DOESN'T find Brando insufferable? Dude has an irrational hatred for Alabama, which is strange considering he is not an LSU alumnus.

not defending the baw but he's not alone there, but I wouldn't say irrational either

Anybody remember his “bingo, bango, bongo!” phrase when he was at WAFB?

he was a local FM jock when I was in high school and when he started to gain a little success/notoriety I was all for him, you know, local baw does good type of thing, but he quickly became the insufferable egomaniac, the one thing I will say for him is, years ago when I was a faithful lemming/sap of the TAF, they had "an evening with Dale Brown" type of dinner in the PMAC to celebrate his career, Vitale was supposed to emcee and backed out at the last minute, they tagged Brando and he really did an excellent job of hosting that event, really worked the room, was a very enjoyable evening, maybe because nobody was going to upstage Dale Brown and he knew it

From what I understand, he was supposed to be the SEC Network #1 PBP guy when it started, but something happened and he ended up at Fox doing forgettable games. Hell of a fall.

His career is littered with “could have beens” and he’s probably bitter about it.
He was so close to grabbing the brass ring but he just never quite got there. Made some bad career choices.
None of his generation of fellow broadcasters align or interact with him, that would lead you to suspect he’s all about himself.
He’s stuck doing mid-level stuff and dropping names trying to be relevant.
Talk about coulda woulda shoulda. He admitted years ago when Finebaum had him on the local show in B'ham, that he was a finalist to host "Wheel of Fortune". Pat Sajak beat him out. Talk about almost........we would have never had to listen to that jack arse talk sports ever again. Would have been awewome.

a friend of mine who was a sport writer for theT-P told me that at the time, how he knew I wonder, but apparently the was pretty close to getting that gig

Correct. He’s an insufferable, 3rd rate talent that doesn’t know squat of the things he rants about. Fancies himself as Top Tier Talent. Can’t stand him.

Tim is definitely the kind of guy who goes to the local bar every night to try and get recognized.
This is factually true. He legit goes to Superior in Shreveport wearing his Fox Sports gear and sits at the first bar stool by the entrance. I've seen this more than once.
