I’m now 45 minutes from downtown NOLA, one hour from downtown BR, 2 1/2 hours from the beach, have excellent public schools, zero crime rate, and a nice home for my family. I’d move to Texas tomorrow if my in laws were not so close as they are now. They help a great deal with the kids.

You live in West St Tammany I’m guessing. The new Metairie. And I’m from there

Yea, it’s easy to move if you’re not happy. In laws is never an excuse to live in misery.

What about when you're the only child and everybody else who could help them has basically died off, save a few random cousins here and there? You can't just dump them off in an overpriced and uncaring nursing home and hope for the best. They didn't do that to you when you were a child (or so I'm guessing they didn't).

Baton Rouge has become so fricking ghetto. It's embarrassing how ghetto it's become. And really, it's not even so much about demographics when I say that as much as it is just generally trashy and most people have adopted a state of apathy vs pride or progress.

Please please please leave then......that way the people who actually enjoy living here won’t have to deal with the traffic......that’s the only thing I find unappealing about BR

Every metro area has traffic. People bitch about it too much, it took me only a semester at LSU to realize what streets to use and when, like don't go down college in the afternoon on a weekday.

Traffic is because of poor planning on infrastructure more than it is about population size. If there is anybody to blame, blame the people in charge of planning and development over the last 50 years. They're the ones who painted us into a corner with the traffic.

BR traffic is worse than it should be because of the growth of the suburbs, lack of a bypass/loop and a poor street layout in South BR. We just live close to work and my kid's school so we mostly don't have to deal with it.

It’s all over Louisiana but it’s because people don’t leave and it really doesn’t have much of a transient base. People don’t ask that in Houston or Austin because they aren’t from Houston or Austin.

People outside of BR and Nola don't really do it. Nobody in Shreveport gives a shite whether you went to Byrd or Southwood.

Lived in area for 17 years. Finally moved in 2017. I wouldn't never go back if it wasn't for my kids.

Wife has no desire to live in the suburbs. We only have one in school thankfully.

I hear ya. I actually enjoy going back to Baton Rouge when I visit family and friends and still say positive things about where I came from...but I do also realize that the quality of life where I am now is infinitely better
