These kids to good to swing by the Student Health building and grab a handful of condoms out of the fishbowl at reception?

Whether it encourages it depends on how they were raised, what is said when it’s given to the kids, and other factors
Well that’s absolutely false

In your case, you would tell the kid you’re going to do this anyway so here is your Narcan. I would argue that actually would encourage a kid to try. Like I said, you forgone conclusion types gave up on your kids.
So incredibly naive. When your daughter is faced with a roommate who she could have saved her life vs the trauma of dying and not she could do about it and living with that for the rest of her life, well, at least dad knew best

Prove it.
Upbringing and telling your child I know you’ll do drugs when you hand them Narcan are not factors? It’s you who are naive.

I didn’t say there aren’t uses for Narcan. You’re bringing up a scenario completely unrelated to my original post.

And when your daughter is faced with the choice of doing drugs, she will say, well dad gave me Narcan and told me he knew I’d give in here.

I understand your point, but you are gonna tell me that kids with strict parents never try stupid stuff?
You don't have to be their buddy.
But you do need to be realistic. There are bad things around and there's a chance that your child, or one of their acquaintances, might, by accident or idiocy, injest something with fentanyl in it.
Now, you can wag your finger and let them die on the floor while you (not you personally, the royal you) scold and lecture them.
Or you can use a simple tool to possibly save a life first. Then maybe they have a chance to learn from a lesson. They certainly aren't going to learn anything dead.
My cousin had a friend that died because he tough it was taking a Xanax or something. Was it a stupid decision? Yes. Was he a bad person? No.
There is bad shite out there. You can caution your kids against it until you are blue in the face. But the Narcan is just an extra layer of caution, just in case.
Or demonize it, whatever, that's sure to work. Just Say No worked wonders, right?

I remember my friends snorting amyl nitrate on the top hump of the zephyr on school night at Pontchartrain Beach.

What are you talking about? It is purely a "break glass in case of emergency" sort of thing and presented as such.

Well I wasn’t responding to you. That wasn’t the case presented.

Right, this seems abnormal to us who grew up in a more innocent time

Having Narcan will just reinforce that doing the drugs is okay in the kids’ minds. Good luck with that.
Eh, I disagree.
The problem is that drug dealers are mixing fentanyl on the same surfaces they’re using to cut coke and package weed which means it’s getting into drugs that people don’t expect it to be in and they’re OD-ing. I’d rather have my kid prepared to handle the situation. It’s shitty but that’s the way it is these days.

It really doesn’t. Interestingly enough this younger generation is drinking and using drugs at a far less clip than any of our generations did.
Harm reduction isn’t a bad thing. And you’re not handing your kid Narcan in a bubble, there’s likely a conversation about that. But make no mistake, handing your kid Narcan alone isn’t triggering drug use in kids.

Like I said encouraging that coke is okay
