Lol. Why are you triggered by what another man drives? It's a fun car.

All I have around me are backroads. The closest interstate is I-90 near Missoula, more than 2 hours south from me.

You'll have a different attitude altogether when you get a ticket in a speedtrap in one of those backwaters.

I did that out to West Texas. It was awesome. Parts of Route 66, along the southern border etc... So many neat things to see.

I drive around N Louisiana for work a lot and this is a very underrated place. Very beautiful landscape but the people, not so much

Makes you realize that the American dream is 10 acres and a double wide.

I love this... Loved LA 15 from Ferriday to Morganza... And the road in MS along the river from Vicksburg to near McComb. Also LA 1 in Caddo Parish and going from Atlanta to Paris, TX

Are we counting anything other than interstates as back road?

Interstates suck. Always take the highway or rural route instead if you have the time

Yep, no interstates here. Few roads at all

Sounds good on the surface but reality is the small rural towns are very corrupt law enforcement. My cousin was pulled over and had drugs planted on him. They extorted him and also made him lose his job.

it's not nearly as bad in some regions

I enjoy it just not between Houston and Mississippi.
I do like 90 from MS to PCB.

I remember as a kid my grandparents taking eight hours to get to lake Charles from nola because they liked to stop so much.

I just got back to ATL from the Gulf and took back roads the entire way through AL and south GA. Windows down, country music playlist on shuffle, downshifting when entering every turn, and seeing a side of rural America that can’t be seen on an interstate.

If you are headed somewhere that isn’t a straight shot by way of a single interstate and have an hour or so to spare, I highly recommend doing this. It makes your drive so much more interesting than the boring, monotonous Interstate.

I’m with ya man, been doing this since really started driving long distance.... and to me feels like time goes by quicker even if it might take longer because your senses are stimulated. Interstate is too boring. Luckily wife is geographically challenged so I can usually go with this is a shortcut, except for times when it’s necessary to use interstate routes.

I took Hwy 27/82 recently from Lake Charles to Houston through Cameron, Sabine Pass and hooked up with I-10 in Winnie just to avoid the bridge traffic in Lake Charles. It wasn't a bad drive TBH.

I do it to avoid stop and go traffic on beach weekend out of B’ham. Rural roads 1/3 of the way easily.

Accidentally downvoted. This x100. I’ve ridden all but one of the long distance trains in the country and nothing else compares.

I'd never go Amtrak. spending up to 12 hours in one at work is enough lol
