I’m not sure abundance is a good thing. It could spiral into a situation where millions of jobs lost with an over supply of goods. Idleness and over consumption is not healthy and it will rapidly deplete resources and as resources deplete the AI will determine the humans as the problem and well….

Or very nothing. For being an alleged genius, Elon is known to talk out of his arse quite often.

Elon believes he can functionally speak things into existence. When he's right, it makes him a visionary. But he's wrong more often than his acolytes would have you believe.

Yes, he is. But is right about this.

He's almost certainly not, unless you completely redefine what "the singularity" is.

Yes we'll need an AI to explain it to us.

Elon has also talked about putting brain chips in people. I don't know why people like him.

How do we know that it hasn't already escaped and is biding its time?
Of course there’s no definitive way to know. But if something had already escaped and was deliberately lying low, you’d still expect peripheral signs.

Technologies like true AGI don’t materialize fully formed in the dark. If something even close existed, we’d expect precursors first: intermediate systems showing genuine autonomy, cross-domain reasoning, or self-directed planning. Those almost certainly would surface in papers, products, or commercial use long before anything capable of quietly slipping containment.

The absence of those precursor systems strongly suggests we’re still earlier on the curve.

Intelligence also applies pressure to its environment. Even a cautious system would leave fingerprints: anomalous resource allocation, unexplained coordination, or behavior that doesn’t track with human incentives. What we actually see is fragmentation, duplication, compute bottlenecks, funding constraints, and organizational dysfunction. In other words, very human failure modes.

So while nothing here is provable, the idea that a hidden AGI is already operating doesn’t really track with the evidence we do have.

But this is all just for fun as the singularity already happened and this entire discussion is just subroutines arguing about the loading screen.
