We never used to have to set the thermostat to 80. They never used to request such a ridiculous thing.

We’re going backwards. They need to figure it out.

I get about 28 at my house. Last summer when it was 100 every day I could hold 72 running constantly. At night it would drop to 68 where thermostat stays

20 degree difference between the return and supply.
Not 20 degree difference between the outside ambient temperature and the temperature inside.

I have mine set to 74 during the day so my unit isn't constantly running 24/7, but I also have a portable A/C in the living room and my kids have a window unit in theirs. At night, I set unit to 70 and turn off portable and window units. That's the best their going to get from me.
