There are kits to bypass the "feature" just make sure to get the one for your vehicle. I haven't looked into how it might impact warranties.

Auto-stop elimiator

ETA: most car stereo shops install these if you don't want to DIY it.

Just got a 26 k5 GT. First thing i asked is where the disable button for it was. To my surprise it didnt have one. Probably because its the turbo but still happy about it.

Bought model awn432sp113tw04 -built Dec 2016
older, durable, mechanical-knob generation

Been ten years. Zero issues.
Only thing I've done is add a magnet for the lid-latch lever on the backside of the machine to allow it to fill with the top open.

I did save the packaging to lock out the machine when moving and it came in handy.

I bought multiple units of that model because of his great advice.

Did something change about Speed Queen between now and then?

most shower heads you can partly disassemble and remove the water restrictions with a pair of needle nose pliers or a drill. I’ve done it to all mine.

<——Not an authority on white goods, I seem to recall he (at the time) implied that all manufacturers were soon going to have to bend the knee to the water & electricity-saving formatted machines. And that would be at the expense of cleaning clothes well. Also, that all machines were more complicated, less robust and less user-serviceable than the mid-2010 generation simple Speed Queens.

Whether this is true or not, I don’t know. I do know I’ve had 8+ years of wonderful service out of mine.

I'm just curious, Speed Queen is what I plan to buy when I can actually afford it.

You can also disable the auto start/stop in your vehicle. It just takes a good set of plastic tools and some know-how.

I disabled it my car with a simple fix. I cut the corner off an old credit card, depressed the disable button and stuck the plastic CC corner in the small gap on the side of the button. So it holds it in a disable position. If I ever have to remove the plastic I can with a needle nose pliers.

My washing machine is 25 years old, has rust on the lid from me using it as a workbench in the past, a disabled lid open stop switch, and is still going strong thankfully.

this has to be a top 3 most retarded green "innovation". Holy hell.

I hope they fix gas cans next. The sick f*cks that conspired to create the death trap, no pouring gas cans we have today should be prosecuted.

For real. A few months ago there was talk of reclassifying tractors and 3/4 ton and up trucks to waive all the regen, EGR valve, etc emissions nonsense. The only problem is that, supposedly, the manufacturers are gun shy about retooling their factories in case the commies take over again.

I don't know, but it's a damned shame that deisel engines topped out in terms of performance and durability about 20 years ago.

I can turn it off but the default setting when I start my vehicle is for it to be enabled. The early versions of these switches allowed you to set them to remain disabled. I forget half the time to disable it until the vehicle shuts off the first time.

That's how it is for my GMC truck. I forget to disable it until the truck dies when I stop to exit my subdivision.

Can't disable entirely on my RAV4, hit the button to disable it for each drive cycle but Toyota also has it so where it takes a bit of extra brake pressure to activate it too.

My dealer “disabled it” for me when I took it in for an oil change.
