Well politics has gotten really popular for people who don't know anything about politics and got a degree from Twitter/X university, but who, in their most Dunning-Kruger, are infinitely confident that they have real insight. So just getting into the BASICS without USING CAPS to OWN THE LIBS is largely impossible.
Most of the people posting on the poli board don't have a fundamental understanding of the topics being discussed. Sadly, lots of people who DO, who have a history of being non-idiots on there, have devolved greatly into the conspiratorial and/or black pill mindset. Due to reliance on either mindset you can't have a productive conversation with those people, either.
I actually agree with SFP. Feel like I need a shower.

I was there in the early 90s. Sadly the gifted program was moved to Edgar Martin a few years ago.

Sharing the score he go on the IQ test and the one I took in the past when I showed potential doesn't matter because no one believes it here

Me and the wife had to go to school and have them explain it to us

You and I have had this conversation years ago. I think you were a couple years ahead of me. Class of 97 right? Fun times on the train to Chicago

I don't remember anywhere here going to Paul Breaux
My last year there was 93. The field trips were all fun.

No. Your high school grad year was 97. Yes we had this conversation before. Jeez you’re supposed to be gifted. Ha kidding
ETA: We had the same teachers. Mrs. Benjamin black lady taught computer lab, Mrs Reamer sp? language arts, Mrs Errit sp? For science, and a crazy redhead taught art. Can’t remember her name

Gifted is two standard deviations above the mean. This is a 130 IQ and accounts for 5% of the population. My younger daughter recently tested in at 2.4. Older daughter got in at 2.7. I tested at 3.3 back in high school.

I tested at ~145 something, somewhere. I was almost immediately homed for gifted/talented, but it started a few grades later. I was doing honors calculus and honors physics in HS.
My favorite was doing Equations (game) or playing Chess.
I'm not trying to be a dick, it's difficult to talk about being S-M-R-T
Everyone laugh please.

The question is why all the 130+ IQs weren't in gifted.
I purposely tanked on the entrance exam; I had friends in g/t classes and they never had time to hang out because they had 3X more homework. My parents were pissed because it wrecked their ability to brag on me (I guess) but I wasn’t gonna allow myself to be put under that much pressure.

I understand.

I didn't have any of those teachers. Ms Jacques and Ms Fischer were the history teachers. Ms Zokai and Ms Winn taught English. Ms McDaniel taught science.

I'll admit I'm only a 129.
Posted on 1/12/26 at 6:36 pm to drizztiger
I made a 36 on ACT - 2 18’s - that all I got.

I didn’t mean to get into this shite. Seriously.
I apologize.
I apologize.

Never took an IQ test, but I did alright on the ole ASVAB. When I got my GED, they sent me a certificate saying I had the top overall score in the state in 1997 and invited me to speak as the “valedictorian” at the big annual GED graduation ceremony. I skipped the ceremony, but I’m still irrationally proud of it and work it into conversations when possible.

Everyone talks about IQ, but EQ is what will get you further in life. It’s your awareness and interaction with people that really separates the two.
