Hail damage should be a paint only repair and should be a quick turnaround in any shop.

There are many times PDR is not a viable option, and conventional repairs/part replacement is required. If paint is broken, it’s a no-go.

Wait until they tell you how long before they can get to actually doing the repair! I am dealing with this now as well..

Wife got rear-ended in August. We are hoping to get the car back next Friday. Ended up taking it to another shop because lift gait was on "national backorder" according to original body shop. This was at a large car dealerships body shop.

We were just sitting around twiddling our thumbs waiting for this liftgait to come in from being on "national backorder"
Talked to another body shop before Christmas and told them the situation about the part being on backorder etc. "Oh, we can get a lift gate tomorrow. Plus we can do it for $5k less" They did and if we went to them originally it would have saved us a few $k in rental fees as well.

Had a bad experience at different dealership body shop too but I'm not at liberty to talk about it.

If I had to guess they want to know how much the insurance company is giving you so they can miraculously match the quote with the check amount.

They wanted to see the estimate so they could get all of the money.

I was in an accident on 12/22. A woman backed into my car in a parking lot. A tow truck took my car to a local body shop the same day. The shop was closed from 12/23 to 1/2. I called on 1/2 with the insurance claim information. Three days later nothing has been done because they are waiting to hear from the insurance adjuster. I tried calling the adjuster several times. Calls are not being returned. At this rate, I am going to be without my car for a very long time.
