My pet peeve is the changing of the Sonic signage. It used to be easy to spot the black and yellow sign but now it's a washed out looking light blue and white. Who decided this was a good thing?
You actively search for Sonic rather than googling the nearest location?

I will say that whoever builds Wendy's and Chick Fil A's should get awards. Once construction starts they go from dirt to first order in less than 3 months.
This. Cane's seem to pop up RAPIDLY too.
But nobody beats 7 Brew. I think their buildings are trucked in and dropped into place. They seem to only take 3-4 months of construction and side work before they are ready to open.

I know people on here like to have a dick measuring contest and try to make people look stupid, but technically it's an architecture post, and not really food related.. So your cute little meme is pointless...

Went to a Mickey D's in Alma the other day, as we walked in I told my children, " This is depressing". Modernism absolutely sucks.

The ones that have a mobile order only lane are the goat locations.
I always order on the app and will just roll past 20 other cars waiting in line to order with the attendant.
Why more people don't use apps for fast food has always boggled my mind.

Why do all these places look like an urgent care office all the sudden?
I can’t tell you the last time I spent time in one of these.
App order and curbside delivery

Sometimes when you’re white hot with rage you just can’t work a phone.

Dude is a complete insufferable twat. Imagine really thinking muh food board is a relevant point of contention here.

When I lived in Austin the city council dictated the building height, brick color, roof materials, roof pitch, amount and type of landscaping, etc

Well, the second word in the subject line is “food”

Much easier to resell a concrete box than a castle with a children's playground inside of it.

And also easier to unload later.
Judging by the number of Pizza Hut-shaped Mexican joints and Taco Bell-shaped chicken shacks, it can't be all that difficult.

Bland food, bland people, bland establishment. It all fits

I saw a YouTube video on this topic
1. Fewer people eat inside at fast food restaurants than ever.
2. People find where to eat via phone, not visual curb appeal like pre-internet.
3. Generic looks make the property easier to sell later
Fast food is purely transactional these days, it's been streamlined to the bare necessities. You now get your order taken by a robot. In a decade the cooking and serving will also be fully automated.

But it’s “clean” and a “fresh look”.
The MSB gobbled this shite up too when uniforms changed to the most generic font possible.

Bland food, bland restaurant, at least it’s not false advertising.
