I guess I started the thread because on the one hand I do like the look (in the appropriate setting), but there are times when it also comes off as a bit “try hard”. So maybe “douche move” wasn’t the right term to use.

Classy for social occasions when a suit is required. Trashy for any other occasion(work related).

What’s the best watch to wear with French cuffs for ~$800?
Not for $800, but a Baume and Mercier Riviera would look good.

Not sure what line of work you’re but I am an attorney in my late 30s. Just about everyone of my peers wear French cuffs. People do notice the cuff links too and compliment the nice ones.

I wore French cuffs all the time when I had to wear a suit to work. Only issue is that they get dirty/stained easily
What about French cuff shirts makes them more prone to getting stained than normal cuffs? (Serious question.. I’m ignorant and don’t wear them often at all.
To OP - I don’t think twice when I see someone wearing French cuffs with a suit. Seems perfectly normal. I do think it would be a little weird to wear them regularly without a jacket and tie.

The folded edge of the cuff, exposed outward over the wrist, creates a thicker edge than the edge of a barrel cuff. If the edge of a barrel cuff gets dirty you'll likely never notice it because it's mere millimeters. The thicker French cuff edge, when unfolded, shows you all of the dirt, grime and sweat it collects over time.

I think a white shirt with French cuffs paired with a jacket is classy, without a jacket may be questionable but can still work.
I hate the colored shirt with contrasting white collar and French cuffs look. Ultimate '80s Wall Street douche look.

or extreme douche move?
I wouldn't say "extreme." It just screams I'm a residential realtor, jeweler or work in insurance.

Classic and classy, or extreme douche move?
Not a fan.
Very popular in the douche and Gay community.
