Damn. Pretty rare for it to be closed in both directions when it's not a hurricane.

Just saw the big rig getting towed eastbound. And there’s absolutely no way he survived. Parts of the engine was pushed all the way into the trailer. Cab is gone

Police do not enforce 18 wheelers. Only target cars. Until this changes we will continue to have issues.

Put radar and cameras along the bridge and have five troopers waiting at the end to give tickets. People treat the damn thing like a level in Mario Kart.

If you're coming from NOLA, go through Morgan City. Otherwise, take 190.

Sort of agree, but it would mess up the better route. Maybe on bridge, semi trucks in one lane only, with no passing allowed. Cars and regular trucks in other lane, no passing. Everyone will get to the other end.

Hey big guy, my Waze is always on. The wreck just happened so the app isn’t picking up smart guy. If you read the OP you would have noticed I was .01 miles from said wreck.

6.5 hours to get from Lafayette to the Northshore. Unbelievable

These problems wouldn't happen if the trucks would stay in their lane.

Prob not a popular opinion but I wish we had built 2 train tracks everywhere and push more heavy haul goods to be moved to railways. It would free up the roads. Many places in the world built those 2 train tracks.

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Rolled from Alex to Nola at 4 PM and taking 190 to 415 to the bridge was absolutely zero traffic all the way through BR.
Thanks y’all, never thought that was possible.

Looking at the camera of course it’s a bunch of 18 wheeler dick heads involved
The slower speed restrictions on trucks went away when Landry got in office. I never see Louisiana Troopers on the Basin Bridge. They need to be enforcing trucks in right lane only !
I’m continually passed by trucks in left lane doing 70 or more.
Where is law enforcement Jeff ?
Teamsters make a big campaign donation ?

190 was backed up terribly in both directions especially around Livonia because of it.

If they’d relax with the toll traps it would be perfect.

The problem with the basin bridge is that only 25% of it needed to be bridge. Well, that, and it was designed for 1964 traffic.

They don’t enforce anything on the basin. I don’t blame them. Could you imagine pulling someone over on that thing with these shitty drivers flying by you?

another result of covid. There was at least one trooper on the basin every day all day pre-covid. But once the big shutdown occurred, LSP simply quit patrolling. A trooper would be sitting just before the Whiske Bay pilot channel (Westbound) or right past the rest stop at Butte Larose, running radar. I dont think they even go up there anymore unless its to respond to a call or they are traveling to Lafayette.
Our tax dollars hard at work.
