Yeah and didn’t some kid get his arm taken in Slidell? After they raised money for him and the people in charge stole some of it.

We have a small one in our neighboring lake/pond and the DWF told us they need to be at least 4' for them to remove it.

The gator are out of control in South Louisiana.

Definitely feels like there's more of them than when I was growing up. I guess the conservation efforts in the 60s and 70s backfired to some extent

Gators and sharks became protected and their numbers and size have dramatically grown as a result.

Lived in Winter Haven Florida as a kid and we spent half the summer in the lakes there. There were lots of pumped in white sand beaches where kids could play and swim. Nobody gets into that water any more and on satellite images there are no more beaches.

The dad did good protecting his son, outstanding.

The old baw who jumped in the water to save his pup, while managing to keep his cigar in his mouth the entire time, was a motherfricking boss.

The father should find the gator’s offspring and make himself a fine pair of boots out of them then said shove boots up its arse.

That’s why you don’t swim in a bayou at dusk.

If frogs had pockets they would carry a pistol for snakes.

Yes. Happened in August, '08. His name was Devin Funck. He was 11 years old at the time. The gator was was almost 11'.

I lived in Slidell in mid-2000s. The trapper at the time in St. Tammany Parish was Sheriff McCrae (sp?). He trapped a 9'10" gator behind our house in the summer '05 before Katrina. I asked him how many gators he trapped in a year and he said about 300. He said they relocate them to Honey Island Swamp.

FTR, he ended up having to kill the gator since a thunderstorm was forming and he didn't want to leave it live in the canal.

A lot of people. Go across the twin span on a weekend with good weather and look to the east toward the rigolets bridge. You'll see a ton of boats anchored up at the sandbar with people swimming.
