It is we, baby boomers, who have ruined America by raising our children to be such pussies. I exempt my wife and I whose children are all hard working.

Bobby Knight was making the point back in the 1970s when he was stating that parents are over-protective. Obviously, it has gotten worse.
I saw a mother storm the field during a senior night ceremony and scream at the head coach because of her son's lack of playing time. Her son was a senior in college!
These rioters are looking for the adventure we had when our parents let us roam and build forts and treehouses without contractors. Plus, they are being paid.

Bull shite. There's nothing Marxist about Gen X. It's the Boomers that grew up "protesting" in the 60s and the current generation that seems obsessed with Communism.
The indoctrination comes from the education system, the entertainment industry, and the media(and social media).
Blaming Gen x for this shite is pretty stupid.
Marxism isn't really the problem. It's just used as the scapegoat for the underlying problems that capitalism has. And no, I'm not supporting Communism.
The issue is that despite attaining similar education levels as their parents, millennials are not seeing the job/economic growth of their elders (pre-Trump). And while Trump has improved this area, it has only been at tail end of the cycle (He's only been in since 2016).
Not being able to attain a similar prosperity to their parents has led to frustration that manifest in what we call socialist sympathies.
The truth is that we need to refine education and how much we spend on it. Capitalism is the best system, but like all systems it is subject to abuse. A brand new car will become faulty if not properly maintained, same goes for an economy.

How do you explain the 60's? All those kids would have gotten "beat" when they were younger by your explanation
Posted on 8/23/20 at 7:16 am to WaydownSouth
Clearly, all of todays problems is only one generation's fault.
because there were perfect generations then Gen X, which just fricked it all up.
You act like today's problems are something new. What about the 1960s? That was a pretty rough decade that poured into the 70s.
As much as people complain about crime today, just think if social media was around back in those days? The mob makes today's crime look like child's play.
If I had to put a percentage on how much influence social media has on today's culture, I would... At least 40%. We literally hear about a lot more stories today than most people would never know about without social media and as they say "out of sight, out of mind".
Back in the day, you were not hearing about all the shite going on and its pretty much as good as not happening if you never hear about it. People's perception of the world was based strictly on what they grew up around.
It sounds like your parents beat you stupid.

Thank you.
I know others don't like you. But you're okay in my book.
I understand that the OT is primarily an older demographic. As such, social media is a new concept.
We hear about things across the country sooner than local news. Combine that with the fact that many choose to live in only place, and you see a large disconnect between the what is nominal to them and the outside world.

Social media and dishonest reporting is destroying everything. Plus...The “look at me” craze.

I honestly think social media causes a lot of people to have mind insanity (lack of a better work. I would say mental illness, but not sure if that is the right term.. But it has some type of mental impact).
It doesn't matter what the big stories are today, you get on social media and there are 4 different versions of the story.
It has caused more people to jump into the extreme. If someone has a certain view on an issue they are automatically labeled (whether it is by themselves or other people) as being on one side or the other. And then once you are associated with that one side you are expected to take on all the views of that side.
Its dangerous man..

Society was trucking along fine until the internet and social media came along.
Now we’re all just angry narcissists regardless of generation. Blank-eyed staring into little screens all day. If you believe in the devil, it’s been his greatest triumph.
Log out for a few hours, maybe even a whole day, go for a walk, and do something nice for someone today. No one on the internet really cares what you think or is impressed by your cynicism.

Yes. Yes it is. Because they think it’s the answer to their problems. Therefore it’s really The problem.

Gen X’er here. My kids got the belt when they needed it, and it was done in a very structured way to make them understand. They would gladly beat these Antifa punks’ asses if they got the chance.
