He got arrested at the Le Bossier Hotel back in the late 70's for just that.

Before GC was a singing star, even before he was in the Beach Boys, he was one of the L.A. music scene's top session guitarists, part of the so-called "Wrecking Crew":

We saw him last year on his tour. He could still play his music but when he was between songs he would ramble at times. His son and daughter toured with him.
My wife had a hard time when you could see he was struggling as her mother has dementia and she lives in fear daily that she will start to show signs of it.

We did too and while his voice and guitar were beyond great for a guy in his mid-70s, he was so tied to his monitors for the lyrics it was uncomfortable. It's probably the only time I've left a concert depressed.

That said, he's one of the most unappreciated musicians of all time.

Bad yes but the worst has to be Lou Gerighs disease. Wasting away and absolutely knowing it but unable to do anything about it.

Gentle on my Mind is one of many of my favorites from him. His songs have a certain narrative beauty that I think many people can relate to. Glad I had the chance to see him live several years ago. Prayers for him and his family.

I did not know that.

Very talented guitar player/songwriter, most of it over-shadowed by the "Tammy" years and all the publicity.

Terrible way to go. My MIL laid in a nursing home for 7 years, knowing nothing.
