Please inform everyone where the funding for this $1B+ project will come from, since you are such a genius.

Thanks.

Why don't you prove to us retards that this path in red couldn't be funded by tolls for 20-30 years? The rest of the country does it and many of us live(d) in DFW and saw the Bush Turnpike get something this long built in about 5 years.

That "loop" is not the route we need built. We need a route from I10 to I12. That is the route all the trucks take. We don't need a quicker way from Lafayette to NOLA, we need a loop from Lafayette to 12.

We need to basically turn airline hwy from old bridge to 12 into some sort of quasi interstate.

Some business owners have expressed concern in the past the diet will make traffic worse. There's also a concern that CATS buses will create a traffic barrier with just one lane on each side since most stops don't have places for the buses to pull off the street.

This is going to be a fricking nightmare

It's the one we deserve.

And you're right. I'm just showing a part of the entire 'solution' that many have talked about for many years.
Something should be done to go along existing roads. I've posted this idea before as I've traveled those route hundreds of times and I'm not the first to ponder why is it so difficult to get from 10-12 between BR and LaPlace.

Making this part of the 'loop' solution would be imperative. I meant to draw a line down 621 not 931.

The diet would shrink most of Government Street from four lanes to two lanes with a turn lane in the middle and bike lanes on the outside. It's meant to slow down traffic, creating a pedestrian-friendly corridor for walk-in businesses.

"hey, we have bad traffic"
"I have a great idea"
"What?"
"Let's remove two of the lanes"
"... ... ..."
"Good idea, huh!"

The road diet is the worst idea I’ve seen yet that has been embraced by a majority of idiots. Only in Baton Rouge can you regress and it be considered progress. It’s almost as bad as it the governor and DOTD wanting to add another lane both ways on I-10 to the split. Let’s screw up traffic for 7 years and make everybody more miserable driving in Baton Rouge everyday.

The civil engineers have screwed our roadways up for the last 50 years. They are a bunch of dumbasses. Build a bridge south of Baton Rouge and be done with it. You’ll cut out a ton of traffic going through the city and not stopping the in the metro area.

I was born and raised in this city and it has gone to shite ever since the great New Orleans flood.

Rant respected here brah-

I don't understand why we don't pay for these with tolls. It makes no sense

In addition to CATS buses, the LSU bus makes stops and additionally they pay no attention to the cars backed up onto Govt. at both of the public schools picking up students every afternoon M-F

The KCS RR now blocks the crossing much more often than in years past. I don't believe it's increased RR traffic but a form of behavior modification to encourage traffic to the North St bridge.

What idiot dreamt this up? Holy frick what a terrible idea. Traffic is bad enough as it is. Can’t believe the river center would go for this. Traffic to get to those garages already backs up for miles for any major event.

it's actually faster for me to leave downtown after work and go to the Calandro's on Govt street than go to the clusterf_uck Winn Dixie on Burbank thats closer to my house. Not anymore I guess. Nice knowing you Calandro's.

BR can't keep up the bike paths that we have now, but they keep building more.

The good news is it's basically just paint. So if it does turn into a total cluster frick they can re-stripe it.

Nice...a Railroad a conspiracy. We haven’t had one of those since 1800’s.

the "bus issue" certainly is the biggest issue with this plan

there is science/data to justify the single lane/turn lane dynamic

now our terrible drivers may slow some of that increased efficiency, and that's an argument, but the bus issue will destroy it fully

how can they propose this sweeping of a change without taking the busses into consideration? classic BR

DOTD does what they are ordered to do by elected officials. If the Legislature allocates funding for a new bridge, DOTD will build a new bridge. If elected officials tell DOTD to do a road diet, they will do a road diet. As much as I wish DOTD was a totalitarian dictatorship, sadly it is not.

Please don’t forget who is really responsible for this upcoming disaster - the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
