Great whites don't like to eat people, but if you are making movements in the water that resemble their favorite snacks, like seals and sea lions, they will take a bite and spit you out when they realize their mistake. Too late.

I agree we aren’t on their menu and most attacks are exploratory and the bite and spit hypothesis makes sense in those attacks. But in predation attacks on seals they take a massive bite and wait for the seal to bleed out before consuming…when it’s a human in most cases there are people around to rescue the victim. Last year a guy was bitten in half on the initial attack then consumed before anyone could get to him. Point being when they do an exploratory bite they may not even be hungry but that can still kill us.

I've never done any diving in my life, but I have been in up to five feet of water in Destin. Makes you think.

How did they know it was 19 foot ? At that size up to 4400 pounds. Seems like it’d be too slow to move that fast./ and the guy didn’t see it coming.

For those of you wanting to see a video, first y’all are sick bastards

But there’s a video of something very similar; it’s if a dive in somewhat murky water and a great white bumps him on his head.

I personally think it’s an aborted attack and the shark realizes the human wasn’t a food item in time for the guy to live.

Okay, speaking of diving, what's the going rate for PADI certifications now? I stopped in a place in Mandeville last week and the owner told me $750 PLUS $100 for the book and I almost laughed.

That just has to be a St Tammany mark up huh?

That’s about right. Maybe a little inflated.

Getting my son verified and it’s close to 600

Holy crap....that's quite the increase from just a couple of years ago.

At $250/$300 (plus gear and OW dives) it might be able to justify doing it even for one or two trips over a lifetime but no way at $850 per person.

You hate to let stuff like this get to your head, but I will be thinking about it on our annual trip to Gulf Shores.

Great whites don’t go to Gulf Shores, just some average whites and a lot of trashy whites

What a 19 - 20 footer looks like for scale and yeah, dats a real photo. Mexican waters from the Pacific side through the Sea of Cortez have some monsters.
