@chadtepper

its crazy

This dude has dozens of snaps on his Snapchat story, and all of them are of him talking about how everyone would've been fricked without him there. He didn't do shite, his buddies did everything while he tried to score internet points.

I'm in Memphis and it's been steady for about 6 hours but never too extreme. Places that always flood are flooding but otherwise it's just like a summer rain that lasts longer than normal.

That's the route I'm planning on taking after lunch tomorrow. Can you post an update tomorrow if you remember?

Yes, please keep us updated. We are leaving BR tomorrow at 11. Haven't seen my wife, newborn, and son for 2 weeks. They've been at Texas Children's.

Just saw a report from KHOU David Paul. Basically said don't expect any significant drop in Buffalo Bayou for the next 10-15 days.

People who have water in their homes on the bayou could see water stay in their homes for 2 plus weeks.

That's Lower 9th Ward / St Bernard Katrina stuff there. Awful.

would love to see the route considering that waze has you going to north Louisiana before coming back down..

Sorry for the delay. Was dealing with my house.

From BR I went up I-49 to natchitoches. Took Hwy 6 from there towards Toledo Bend and crossed the border there. Can't remember all the roads after but went through Lufkin in order to hit I-45 in Huntsville. South from I-45 into Houston. If you google map Houston, Huntsville, Natchitoches, Baton Rouge it should plot your course.

Absolutely no issues with flooding, closures, detours, traffic, gas. 7-1/2 hr trip with 3 stops to refill the truck every time we could.

There might me a better way tomorrow, but that route is definitely available. Good luck

google maps shows 6 hours from houston to New Orleans (going through back roads as you get to Beaumont and Port Arthur)...while Waze is 8 hours, go north out of Houston, catch I-49 where it intersects with US-84.

Is google maps out of touch with situation?

Seems like taking the route that Google maps gives you south of i10 is quicker by like 2 hours but riskier because some spots on the route show as closed even though its supposed to take you around closures. The route yall mentioned earlier is longer but a safer bet. Will decide in morning I guess.

That's what made my decision today. I didn't want to be turned back bc of conflicting reports. I went with the safe/longer route.
