It’s the fact that the police don’t arrest for theft even when they know who did it most of the time

My thoughts on surveillance is, I don't have shite to hide so I'm not worried about it.
This is exactly the attitude our founding fathers probably had. (Sarcasm).
This is a stupid, immature and ignorant way to look at it. Surveil me, I have nothing to hide! I’m not using my gun, so go ahead and take it. This is how tyrannical government starts. When people like you give up little pieces of their freedom and rights one bit at a time. Governments love incrementalism and people like you that don’t object because “you have nothing to hide”. That’s not the point! You shouldn’t ever be recorded without your consent!
I’ll bet you were a full social distancing, mask wearing, yelling at people in the store without a mask type of person. That whole BS was an exercise in who would roll over and give up their freedom in the name of “safety”. You are one!
Just take a look at England right now. I doubt you’ve been keeping up though.

It’s wild getting notifications all day and seeing how many people come knocking on the door for who knows what multiple times throughout the day.

I heard police can tap into Ring without a warrant.
A couple of years ago police asked to see our Ring for a neighbor issue.
That's when i noticed 4/7 houses on the block had Rings.
I turned mine off and have only my dvr system..

If you live within a 100 mile radius of NOLA, including the Northshore now, the chances of you getting Boyz in da Hood’d are 1,000 times higher than you getting Winston Smith’d in your lifetime.
Get a ring camera.
Get a ring camera.

I’m just tryna not have my packages stolen

Reading this thread I wonder if people have ring cameras inside their homes. I'm not sure being able to look in on my empty front stoop moves the needle for my need for privacy. We don't even use the front door 99% of the time, so our movements can't even be tracked by the ring. Probably more interesting to just stay on my phone of you want to get me. Or the smart TV in my office. God knows I'm in this room enough.

I don’t have a ring camera, never have. I do own a Tapo 4K 360 degree.. with facial recognition. Bad to the bone.

Boyz in da Hood would meet my Great Pyrenees and then my Smith & Weston. Don’t need a ring camera.

If anyone wants to steal the junk in my house/garage/yard, they can help themselves. Saves me the trouble of having to get rid of it.

Put up a few of those at our place. Didn’t realize they came with a free month of online backup. Finally went through and watched the motion-activated clips on there. Realized it was mostly just some SOB walking out the door of my house and taking a piss in the driveway. a-hole was wearing my hat.

How is a camera that points at nothing but a sliver of my carport and front yard and only records me, my family, and the amazon guy helping a dystopia surveillance state?

Are you asking how giving Amazon full access to and ownership of a camera recording you, your family, and your coming and going from your house is part of a surveillance state? Seriously?

Doesn’t matter if I have one if everyone else in the neighborhood does. Or the red light cameras. Or the face cameras at the self checkout. Or the cameras pointed at the entrance of nearly every business. Or the dashcam cameras on so many cars. Or the many cameras on every Tesla. Etc..
I held out for a long time based on the concerns you cited. In the end, I figured the only person I was “protecting” by not having a camera was the a-hole stealing my packages, effing with my cars or trying to break into my house.

Wonder how long before people are cited for indescent exposure for taking a leak at night in their own yard. Just a thought ??

Absolutely the case. Amazon's (another DS-owned enterprise) ridiculous SB commercial about "saving missing dogs" was framed as good reason for entire neighborhoods to be littered with all-seeing-eye Ring cameras.
Is it really? OR is this a one more dumb but effective ruse by and for The Surveillance State. That way citizens themselves do the Surveillance State's own dirty work for them.
Missing "dogs"?? Really? What happened to simple AND effective staple guns and posters on poles and FB alerts?
Hey, here's a better focus: How about saving the MISSING CHILDREN??
