It’s amazing to me people still don’t get why we want to slow the virus down... OP is right..we are slowing down reaching herd immunity...we are also keeping our hospitals from being over run...but, that might end up happening in some places. I’ll check back in with you then.
They stopped using that excuse back in May, we aren’t getting overrun.. ITS TO SAVE LIVES.. lil info the masks will not save 1 life, neither will the distancing, the virus is here, grandma is eventually gonna wander out and come across a carrier, will happen to you also, then it’s up to your immune system what comes next. The only thing delaying does is help earlier folks who had it become less immune, slowing it down gives the virus an ongoing food supply.

He’s not wrong. 138k deaths of people WITH covid19, not OF covid19
God this is the stupidest, worn out narrative...ok, sure. Some people, with COVID died in a car wreck or some other cause...how many do you really think that is realistically? Even if it were 10,000...you’d still have a devastating disease.

Well I saw on another board, that someone’s momma had a heart attack in Jackson, and they sent her to Hattiesburg..state of MS said the 5 largest hospital ICUs were full...is this a conspiracy down to the local level?

No dude.
The average age of someone dying with covid19 is 80. Nearly all covid deaths are of severely immunocompromized, elderly patients. Covid19 is simply the straw that breaks the camel’s back.
Remember, seasonal flu... a virus that we have a widely accessible annual preventative vaccine for, kills 60k per year or more in this country and only propagates for 5 months out of the year.

Right, and herd immunity will only come from a vaccine...

I'm at the point with this dumb shite where I say I'd rather everyone get it and take our chances than keep on living in this bizarre world we now live in. I'm sick of hearing about it.. I'm sick of the politicians making it political (on both sides) I'm sick of the facebook fights over masks. Its on every news channel, every radio station, etc..
We'd probably be done with it right now had we just kept everything open in March and I understand that they shut everything down to make sure our hospitals weren't overrun.. but after seeing how long this has dragged on for and how long I for-see it carrying on into the future, I wish we would have just gotten it over with.

There is no herd immunity due to the constant mutations.

Except those 100k+ dead people. That’s also a fact
The only FACT is that 100K+ people died. What they actually died of is indeed up for debate. Do any of you pay any attention to how lenient the CDC Guidelines are for coding someone as a COVID-19 death?
Is anyone paying attention to the tests? The CDC has officially said that even the common cold is being counted as a Covid-19 result.
The numbers are all total and complete BS. Full level Fraud.

Want to debate it? Show me the science on the antibodies and change my mind.
I don’t believe that bullshite. People who get COVID-19 are immune for at least a year. I don’t know that, but I’d bet on it. Immunity is coming from other sources rather than anti-bodoes. Studies are showing large numbers of people with T-Cell resistance to COVID-19. And some of them have NEVER had COVID-19.
Also, if you’re right it supports his point of view even more. This is just something we have to live with, like the common cold.

You’re right, but the Boomers would rather shut everything down and print six trillion dollars to prop up their 401ks as the last, final frick you to their descendants and western civilization as they eat themselves to death.

Mask requirements put off herd immunity. This is absolute madness in dealing with a virus that is no worse than a common cold for most people.
I guess condoms are just putting off herd immunity for HIV too. Just go in raw all the time and get it over with.

How COVID 19 Damages the Brain
quote:
Happy hypoxia” is another mystery. Our blood normally features “oxygen saturation” levels of around 98%. Anything below 85% should lead to a loss of consciousness, coma or even death. But a large number of Covid-19 patients have been found to have oxygen saturation levels below 70%, even below 60%, yet remained fully conscious and cognitively functional.
quote:
If you had asked me a month ago if there was any published evidence that Sars-CoV-2 could cross the blood-brain barrier, I would have said no – but there are now many reports showing that it absolutely can,” says Stevens.
In Japan, researchers reported the case of a 24-year-old man who was found unconscious on the floor in a pool of his own vomit. He experienced generalised seizures while being rushed to hospital. An MRI scan of his brain revealed acute signs of viral meningitis (inflammation of the brain), and a lumbar puncture detected Sars-CoV-2 in his cerebrospinal fluid. Chinese researchers also found traces of the virus in the cerebrospinal fluid of a 56-year-old male patient suffering from severe encephalitis. And in a post-mortem examination of a Covid-19 patient in Italy, researchers detected viral particles in the endothelial cells lining the blood vessels of the brain itself. In some countries such as France, autopsies of Covid-19 patients are highly restricted (or outright banned), making the Italian finding all the more important – and concerning
quote:
In fact, some scientists now suspect that the virus causes respiratory failure and death not through damage to the lungs but through damage to the brainstem, the command centre that ensures we continue to breathe even when unconscious.
quote:
Other viruses have caused far more devastating long term impacts. One of the most notorious was the influenza virus responsible for the 1918 pandemic, which caused permanent and profound damage to the dopamine neurons of the brain and central nervous system. (While it’s long been assumed that influenza cannot cross the blood-brain barrier, some scientists now think that it can). An estimated five million people worldwide were hobbled by a form of extreme exhaustion known as “sleepy sickness” or “encephalitis lethargica”.
Among those who survived, many remained in a state of suspended animation. “They neither conveyed nor felt the feeling of life; they were as insubstantial as ghosts, and as passive as zombies,” wrote Oliver Sacks in his 1973 memoir Awakenings. He described patients remaining in this stupor for decades until being revived by the drug L-DOPA, replenishing levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine. (Read more about why the 1918 flu was so deadly).
